not being able to open in inkscape.../

ok i can open a lot of stuff in inkscape and it is probably something i am just overlooking but i can't seem to open a preticular file.. it just says could not open the file and it give the path that the file is located..

i am now using a imac.. i am new to the whole inkscape thing..

Inkscape cannot open all file types (.eps is one of them).  I bet you are trying to open an eps and it will not do it.  Yes post the file and we can help you out.

ok so if i have an eps file what do i have to do so i can open it in inkscape..??

If you post it here I can convert it to an SVG or an AI for you. Also you can edit EPS files in the free trial of signblazer.
