kearn 0 Posted December 6, 2008 Some one had made a post regarding the epson RX595 printer They were using it to make printed decals. I have recently purchased one of these printers but need to find out what vinyl they used.Regular white or clear cut to fit printer feeder. Or did you have to by special vinyl to use. If I remember right they had installed it on an item out side with good results Thank you for your help Darrell kearn kearney's vinyl designs
dustinjtrr 0 Posted December 6, 2008 Well you can buy printable vinyl, but I have heard of people using orcal 651 with mixed successes. The main thing to look for is the type of ink that is used. Any of the newer epson printers use "Claria" ink which is a dye based ink. Most other brands (hp, canon, etc.) don't use a dye based ink until you get into their very high end range (easily $1000+). The only downside for most home users is that the epson ink is a lot higher per page, image quality is usually better though, and as far as vinyl printing goes I think it is the only option. This may not be 100% correct, but I'm pretty sure it's accurate. Maybe some of the printers on here could weigh in.
kearn 0 Posted December 6, 2008 Did they use clear or white did you hear if they had to cut vinyl to fit feed tray? thank you darrell
vinylman 0 Posted December 7, 2008 Hey friend, you need pigment ink and not claria especially if it will go outdoors. White needs to be used or it will not be very opaque. Without a custom RIP that will allow extra ink to be put down the clear will not look very good because it will not be very opaque. Clear lamination should be used which is different than clear vinyl over the print to help give it extra life.
