    Newbie Vinyl cutting problems

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I did order a new cutting pad, just did not get around to installing it. I did do everything that was stated in the previous posts, but no luck, I am betting all on the cutting pad, it was worn all the way through so I could not flip. Lesson learned to say the least. I did upgrade to a used 48" Pcut machine. I know this is still a little lower quaulity than the copams I was eyeing up, but it is a world of difference for me. Great machine so. Still have to work out some small bugs and learn the machine more but we are bak in business. I am sure I will be needing more help down the road. I plan to get my othe machine up and running again and use a back up.
  2. I was cutting (2) 5" x 24" long parts today out of 15" wide roll. The length of the final part came out to be 23" and the width was like 4 7/8" Does this adjustment sound like a cutter issue or a software issue. I use Artcut 09 for software. On the Pcut LCD display I see there is a "X Scale" and "Y Scale" Both were set to close to factory settings (I just purchase this machine used) and I have adjust each up to 300 in either direction, did not notice a big change. Any ideas?
  3. Wow, that is awesome! I did a search and could not find anything. I guess it is safe to assume the laserpoint and the pcut run the same controls. I did adjust these numbers already and did not notice a change at all. I will try again and let you know what happens.

Corners are not cutting square - please help

Using Artcut and SignBlazer, did not see an over cut option for those. Is it called something else? Cutting strip is basically brand new, no gouges in it

Corners are not cutting square - please help

Hey thanks!! That was easy. I fixed the corners, now the last thing I need is for when the cutter starts a letter, it plunges down too far, not through the linear, but deeper than anywhere else, and when the blade comes around to finish the letter, it leaves a little nick of material. Is this another setting somewhere that can be adjusted?
  6. I am looking to buy a used Creation Pcut locally. Problem is software is NOT included. Nothing. I have CorelDraw 14 and Artcut 2009 already. Can I use either of these programs to run this plotter? Will I need a driver or something? Is Sign Blazer a free design program? Any other free design programs? I can not afford to buy SignCut Pro or Flexi. Please keep in mind I don't know much about computers, just want t make sure if I buy this machine, I will be able to use it somehow. Thanks in advance everyone.

Which Software program to buy/use with a used Pcut

Thanks everyone. I can not install signblazer until I have the machine, it prompts you to plug in the USB cable during the install. The guys says he has the driver, so I should be all set when I get it home. Based on everything, I doubt it will go smoothly, it never does for some reason. I am going with SignBlazer as my primary software for cutting, if possible. For Coreldraw, won't I need some sort of Coreldriver to comminicate? I wanted to try Artcut like I said before, but I went to install Artcut on my laptop with vista for the first time. The program installs fine, but I can not comminicate with my old cutter. There is a UCB driver disc I put in, but it does not install with vista. So that looks like a dead end for. With Vista, how do I see which port I plugged with USB cable into the computer? In Artcut, it prompts you to select which Com port, I tried them all but no luck Sometimes computers just really frustrate the crap out of me. I wish I understood this stuff more. Once I get the machine (assuming it passes the quality and funcution tests) I'll keep you all posted, I am sure I will be needing more assistance, again, can't thank all of you enough.

Which Software program to buy/use with a used Pcut

Hmmm, I'll have to ask about that machine already selling, maybe the buyer fell through. I will be bringing a flash drive with several dxf files from him to test on site before I buy it. Some small detailed work and some 50" banners, just to make sure it is on the up and up. For $250, if everything works good, that should be a good deal, I am not worried about the damage as long as the rollers are good and it tracks good. Its only a 30 minute drive. Thanks again for all the help, this place is a great resourse for a beginner like myself

Which Software program to buy/use with a used Pcut

Sweet, it does have the Creation Pcut Pro48 listed as a setup. Is it really that simple just to select that and click "Plot" This is the machine I will be picking up. http://cgi.ebay.com/48-creation-vinyl-cutter-used-12-times-/180532868927?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a0898f73f I might have to look into Sign blazer also, I don't really like Artcut, but if it works that is all I need for the small ammount I use the plotters

Which Software program to buy/use with a used Pcut

Thanks, I currently use Corel and Artcut with my Rabbit cutter, but I doubt I can just plug in the Pcut and go to town. I would think there must be some settings in Artcut to modify? And since Artcut is an Asian based program, there is no support that I am aware of. That would be best case for me, but I would need someone to verify this if possible I didn't see anything at Sunie.com, just cutters for sale

I put the old blade in, no luck. I put the pen in, and still jagged edges. The files are perfect, I am a 10 yr CAD designer/user. The straight lines are good, left right up down. Angles. curvers are where it is bad I think I narrowed it down to 2 things, the rollers/motor like you said, or the cutting pad. The pad is way worse then I first looked at it, to the point where it has cracked all the way through in some spots.

You're right, I am not getting rid of the machine, I just demand a lot from myself and my work, when I can not produce high quality stuff, I have a short fuse , lol. I have 4 other brand new blades, all of them cut the same roughness, so I ruled that out. the test cut is perfect straight and square.

    Newbie Vinyl cutting problems

Thanks for the helps guys, I was really hoping the 3in1 oil (all I had available) would do the trick, but no luck, still very jagged and rough, I can hear that something is not right, almost like there is too much friction when cutting, it is just way louder than it should be. The blade depth is good, I've tired more/less pressure and faster/slower speeds, nothing is working for me. The material is oracal. I never should have messed with the blade Any other possible things that could be wrong? Something in the track rollers? Pinch rollers? There is not much to the machine. The cutter is a rabbit-800, china built junk, but the guy I bought my laser engraver from gave it to me for almost nothing to make the sale of the laser. Alas there is no service and I am ready to junk the whole machine.
