    Vehicle Lettering in Cold Weather?

I agree with hazz. In a cold enviroment a wet app will give you nightmares. Hinge it in sections as much as you can. Hit with heat and away you go. Wet will drive you insane as it will take forever for the adhesive to set so you can remove app tape.
  2. Thats a good paragraph from a article but incomplete data is given when quoting that specific paragraph and it is largly falsifying what you are trying to point out. By Charging that fee you are in breech of your contract in any state. Unless you are strictly taking Discover cards and charging the fee. But if you are taking more than Discover and charging the fee on strictly Discover, you then breech discovers contract by discouraging the use of that card with fees only associated to that card. But if YOU ARE a merchant you would see this in your contract> http://www.mastercard.com/us/merchant/pdf/BM-Entire_Manual_public.pdf 5.11.2 Charges to Cardholders A Merchant must not directly or indirectly require any Cardholder to pay a surcharge or any part of any Merchant discount or any contemporaneous finance charge in connection with a Transaction. A Merchant may provide a discount to its customers for cash payments. A Merchant is permitted to charge a fee (such as a bona fide commission, postage, expedited service or convenience fees, and the like) if the fee is imposed on all like transactions regardless of the form of payment used, or as the Corporation has expressly permitted in writing. For purposes of this Rule: 1. A surcharge is any fee charged in connection with a Transaction that is not charged if another payment method is used. 2. The Merchant discount fee is any fee a Merchant pays to an Acquirer so that the Acquirer will acquire the Transactions of the Merchant.
  3. yes there is laws about it, and also on any credit card authorization contract it will specifically say you cannot. I know there is alot of people that do charge for this but just so you know it is not legal and also a breech of your contract. If your paying more for something using a credit or debit card, I suggest you find a new place to purchase whatever it is from them that they supply to you. Plus thats just bad buisness to include all these extra fees onto something after a price is given. If you are that worried about 3% charges from increased revinueand ability to charge customer on spot build it in to your overall pricing and do like tec said, offer 3% discount for cash. IMO way to much math. I just beleive its part of doing buisness. I charge same price if its cash, check, credit/debit cart, change or whatever. I just wanna get paid and get paid asap.
  4. Thats pretty illegal. You cannot pass on your banks finance charge.

    5x4 foot sign

My first choice is ACP or Alimincorr. This is a cheap alternative as a 10mm sheet is 1/4 the cost of anything else. And i am talking about "Expanded PVC".

    5x4 foot sign

well then i quess the 200 signs i have on expanded pvc are bad, and all the 3D signs everyone makes are bad. PVC was designed for outdoor use. I have never heard of it warping or failing due to weather, ive had some out there for 4 years, it still looks like the day i put it up. But for you to say its not for outdoor use is plainly wrong. I will tell you if you have a 10' sheet and screw it tight to a wood wall in the four gorners in the cool morning and then come back in the afternoon the heat from the sun causes alot of expansion and will appear warped. That is true with almost any substrate if mounted on something ridgid with different expansion rates. This needs to be taken into consideration when mounting andhow to go about your mount. Mounted correctly this material wil lay flat and stay true for many, many years. Its use in three dimensial signing is extremely widespread for its durability and its ability to withstand all weather enviroments.

    How is your revenue split?

Maybe i should break up my recordkeeping a bit to be able to track this a bit better, but im about 15% clothing. Wish it was higher as it is a quick easy profit. But as far as gross amounts it cant compete with doing banners, lettering installs and signs all the time. Them add up fast and orders of 20 to 30 shirts a week dont meet them amounts in the end. BUT everyone is going to be different, depends on your market, your target buyers and how you would want to grow your business and profession.

26ft Banner in a day and still waiting materials (9.39am)

I agree banner, that was for sure a vinyl job. In my opinopn colors like just dont pop with print as they do with vinyl and really its no faster to lay it out in vinyl than it is to wait for it to print, nem and all that jazz. Not to burst anyones bubble but everyone who prints thinks everything should be printed i have noticed, its like you all are hounds starving for work, lots of questions on here just merely get a reply with "pm me for a printed price" when the op is clearly not asking for that just some advice on how to do his layout. Nice work and looks good. Keep it up.

    Dont buy a US Cutter

I have been nothing but impressed with the zen black in action. This thing is wickid fast, accurate and all around a great performing machine. Small text, long feeds, Accurate tracking. all been good that I and my associates have thrown at em, well, better than good, great.

    Getting vinyl to stick

you cant prime it either without sanding or removing the protective layer with acetone. The primer will flake off as will any paint. if priming, be sure to sand ENTIRE surface, not just the tops of the rough parts. Start with 80, then 180. Then lay on the primer. Alcohol will not touch this substance. Maybe denatured alcohol, but agin i would recomend using acetone. But be sure not to get any on gelgoat or and fininshed part of the panel as it will softern the finish.

    Getting vinyl to stick

Are you cleaning this throughly? I have much experience in fiberglass laying and molding, and as it sets it puts a wax layer on the air exposed area to prevent it from being sticky. Wipe down with acetone to remove this as otherwise you will never get a decal to stick on the raw unfinished glass.

Sounds like snap to grid in on in your view settings, or shift+CTRL+" will toggle it on/off

    Flexipro really?

ah this is not true persay you can use the program but...... you are limited to the size of the output graphic. as for stolen software. we all have it or had it at one time or another. Ummm, No, I have NEVER used pirated software, I do beleive in earning my way, not ripping everyone off along the way.
  19. mopar691

    Add Setup?

My thoughts exactly, love it when they say "i use flexi, whats a dongle?" When i was a machinist used to see the same thing for Gibbs Camm alot, I went as far as not accepting a job at a fairly large local shop for using all hacked software including Gibbs. You wanna play you pay

    Cutter Freezing up

your (cringe) made me laugh. Got a helper here cutting cloroplast right now and he was like what? i dont get it.
  21. mopar691

    Flexipro really?

Exactly my point. If they wanna run bootleg software let them get support from the people who hacked the software.
  22. There really is no drivers for different versions of a os as these donot use standart spoolers such as printers. Your cutting software is where the "driver" resides if you will call it that. It is the protocal for the transfer of information thru assigned port. but there is no plug and play driver that will allow communication.

    Serial Port

I hear alot of people ay oh you need xp or you cant do that on vista. When i started this i was using vista on all my pc's and connected my cutter with no problems to my tower that had a serial port. Then upgraded them all to Win7 and still no problem at all, not even a glitch. But the second i try USB or all these adapters it is nothing but problems or glitches. I truely need to say that when using these its not the operating system that makes any differance its wether your pc has a serial or not. I know the usb adapters work but..... Get a pc that has the correct equipment to run simple machines such as these. I can use and have used just about every peice of software out there on both vista and win 7 with no problems. And a host of cutters from a Master, US Cutter MH, Graphtec and a Zen. All with no issue using nothing but serial as they were designed. USB on any cutter is gunna cause issues. I was running top of the line 9 axis cnc turning centers that would fail every time we tried to parse information via usb. Serial would go without a hickup. What im saying is look for a box with a serial and save the headache. Whether it be a laptop or a desktop. It is gunna save you so much pain down the line. I know some have seperate box to design on running all new stuff and a old one to cut on, but man, thats a pain in the rear. Files all over the place, jump drive everything, now, what one is the one i cut?? ugg. Tried that too and hated it. What i quess im saying is look ahead and think when you upgrade your pc. oh, that new dell doesnt ave a serial? then maye you should lok at some other companies. Alot do if you look for them. Get a good moniter, Dial in your colors, load your favorite graphics and cutting program and away you go.
