Not sure what machine you guys are cutting on but I have a mh721 and I can use a full size sharpie. They also make mini sharpies too, you might try that.
-
I've done a couple things with a sharpie, it fits right in there. If I'm having trouble cutting something I usually put in a sharpie and a sheet of card stock to make sure it will cut right instead of wasting vinyl.

I do mine on a 3' by 8' folding table. Then I clamp the banner to the table where I can, it keeps it from sliding around and you can buy a good of clamps for under $10 these days. I usually do mine dry, but that really depends on what way you like best. Also, on "one sided" banners I've never had a problem doing 2 sides on one.

I have yet to change my original blade. It's getting to the point where I probably need to because I can start to tell a difference, but I've cut over 400 orders since July on one blade. I've also been through 5 yards of chrome with this blade too. I'm pretty impressed with the blade...and when I do get to the point where I get through my third blade I'll definitely be ordering the same ones from US Cutter.

Clear Choice sticks to the backing paper better. When I need to transport paper taped decals I usually fold it over the edges and use masking tape if needed. Pretty much all paper tape does that though. Rounding the corners will help a little.

I usally charge $1 per letter for 2" lettering...so it's pretty low compared to my prices. Ususally 2" lettering doesn't take much more than 2" of my vinyl, which costs me no more than $0.25 and when I turn a quarter into $20 I'm not doing too bad. I would probably charge a customer $100-150 for that job, but I price my friends differently of course.

Looks like a pain in the a** to weed but that's exactly what I needed. Thanks!

Doing some signs for a guy that does "windows, siding, and more". Anyone have some kind of clipart that would look good on this?
-
I sure like that one too. I think the guy kinda wanted somebody installing a window or something, though. If anyone has anything close to that your help is much appreciated. I do like the first one however and will use it if I can't find anyhing else.

I use clear choice all the time. Never had a problem. I usually do clear for customer applied jobs and paper for my jobs, but I dont mind using clear at all.

if you're close to northern IL Sign Outlet Store has the 4x8 sheets. They dont ship them. They charge about a buck for a cloroplast sign. If youre looking to buy in bulk eBay had some pretty good deals last time i checked. be sure to get horizontal signs. i rarely use vertical signs.

You'll use about $20 in vinyl and tape. Figure 2 hours or so of labor. Tell him $200-250. If he tries to haggle, let him, but don't go below your 150. Don't cheat yourself out of money. Give yourself room.

Looks like it might be worth trying but you are still limited to an 8.5" by 11" decal.
