I use Corel X3 to build projects. With some fonts such as Magneto or Metal Lord I end up with overlapping cut lines between characters. I've tried simplifying and converting to curves with no results. I figure I must be missing something obvious. How would I eliminate the overcut between the e and s in attached example? While this was built in Corel I saved it in AI format, before writing this I tested my save by importing it back into my already opened Corel project. When I sent it to SignCut, the cut lines for the AI portion did not appear as strong as the Corel lines from an identical example in the Corel, why was that? MetalLord.ai MetalLord.ai

The welding (Arrange>Shaping>Welding) in Corel had me confused with the option of leaving original either the source object or target. I have found I can highlight (click on) the text and then weld it to itself without selecting either source or target and obtain the results I desire. Thanks for your help.

Well I've tried standard ApliTape and am less than impressed with the adhesion quality on Avery backer. Before I go wasting any more of my money experimenting. What is a good reasonably priced application tape to use. I'm leaning towards trying a plastic next next time....suggestions?

When I got my Copam last spring, rather than burden my desktop with another device and additional software I loaded everything cutter related to a 2.6 Anthelon laptop I had not been utilizing. The cutter I received came with the USB- RS232 adapter and necessary software. I should probably knock on wood before saying this..I've had no real issues with this installation. Why do some people drive Cadillacs when an Escort will get them there just as fast? Cause it's what they feel comfortable with. The same probably applies to computers to some extent. Go with what you feel is most comfortable.

From what I've read on other graphics forums when I did a search. I believe the wallpaper file is exceeding the limitations of my laptop's memory, I need to split the ND file into a couple of smaller files. This could take a few days of head scratching on my part.

I downloaded the collegiate files from this site. Unzipped them and attempted to import one into Corel without success. They open ok in SignCut, so I'm inclined to think it's file size that's the issue. Anyone have a work around for this?

One of us must be misreading something. The auction you referred to includes SignCut Lite Edition for infintium. Should you desire SignCut Professional Edition, you are given the option of appling your credit towards a three year license. It's all a matter of perspective. This approach is certainly not unique to US Cutter. Heck even my computer came with Lite versions of software.

I looked into this for my Copam 2500. In Corel you would go to Tools>Options>Global>Printing>Driver Compatibility. I show NO driver compatibility for the Copam. Maybe someone else has found a work around with another driver out there that accomplishes this task, I have not. I set my Corel page dimensions to match the usable area of the vinyl I'm currently cutting. Once the project is ready to cut I click the easy Launch (rocket) from the toolbar and the project is loaded and ready to cut in SignCut with the exception of a 90? rotation to match page orientation and weeding lines. Does it need be any easier than this?

When using Corel X3 I often get multiple cuts over the same cut line in SignCut with the Copam. I believed with bitmaps it was caused by varying degrees of brightness and contrast in different areas of the image when traced. But it also does it if I create a text only project in Corel. Is there a way to prevent this that I'm missing?

I finally got around to trying it and like the format. I had to also download the HPGL GhostScript Pulg-in to view EPS files. Once I did that I found the IRFanViewer I have is also compatable with the plug-in, so it will now view the files for $29 less. Just the same your suggestion facilitated all this and I appreciate that. Thanks

After setting the vinyl up and measuring have you tried to feed the vinyl with the arrow key to check the tracking alignment? Is your vinyl track drifting?

You might look at MYFonts.com. I would suggest Counterscapes, Oil Crisis A/B, Snappy Mugs, Sure Thing Symbols, & Webdings for starters.These are all Laribie (probably misspelling his name) designs and freeware (donations accepted) in TT format. I would have never thought to incorporate fonts as anything other than text untill I saw these.

I got a cheap copy of Corel X3 and it sends the project directly to SignCut. I've found it pretty easy for an ole man to learn. Now I realize that is not exactly the answer you were looking for (all in one) but I started my response that way for a reason. I've downloaded the SignBlazer program trial and have pretty much given up on it. I have a different learning curve than most, and my head can't take much more scratching from befuddlement. This will probably be contrary to most of the responses you'll get here regarding SignBlazer. Good Luck

Will SignCut PE and SignBlazer successfully reside on the same computer in harmony? In other words if I load the SignBlazer trial on my computer with SignCut still installed will I encounter any additional communication issues to the cutter? Thanks

I visited myfonts.com today and noticed they have a font identifier that recognizes scanned font images. Perhaps this can be of some help to you. You might also look at their Laribe fonts (freeware in TTF for non commercial use)
