    How is you'r weather

We're hitting record high temperature out on the west coast... it was 73' yesterday... and normally, it should be in the 30s to low 40s for this time of the year. Need snow in Tahoe, otherwise, we're drinking sand this summer...

    screen printing using vinyl

Thanks so much for posting this! We have 2 screenprinters - one of them is a little portable (craft-rated) one and we can carry it with us to trade shows along with our vinyl cutter and heat press now to do custom shirts! And we figure we can use vinyl for the non-complex designs, we can pump out up to 100 shirts per hour on the big one...

    Class Action Lawsuit?

Should I just chime in and say my 5+ year old hand-me-down refine is still going and making me good money? Have to say... been an entertaining thread... BTW - Toyota had to recall because people are dying from the faulty parts - last I heard, there hadn't been any fatality associated with USCutter...

    How is you'r weather

Can you send some of that white stuff out to Tahoe here? We've been getting quite a bit this year... but we've had 3 dry years out here already... don't need another summer of drought!
  5. Can you also go into Device manager - USB Serial Port Settings - Port Settings Tab and see what the "Flow Control" is set to? Try setting that to Hardware. Then go to Advanced option under the same tab: Make sure Serial Printer box is checked and nothing else. Also, do you have a Latency Timer setting? That should not be higher than 16ms. Yeah, I've never been able to get the Serial or Parallel ports to work... I had found those to be the most optimal settings for USB. Hope they work for you too...
  6. If he's getting partial cuts and then it stops in the middle of the cut, it shouldn't be a com port issue. It sounds like USB is losing connection halfway through his cut. Only other thing I can think of is trying a new usb cable?
  7. There's really no set price for vinyl... a lot of it depends on how complex the design is... I charge $40-45/hr for labor, and that's considered pretty low for California... A useful tool to get you in the ball park would be using Sign Expert's calculator: http://www.thesignexpert.com/TheSignExpert.com/Sign_Business_Free_RTA_Vinyl_Price_Calculator.html If I were to do 1000 of them, I'd probably have them printed. If the customer insists on die cuts, they know they're paying a lot more for them... if it's a repeat customer, base on your description, I'd might go as low as $0.70 per sticker.
  8. At $0.27 per sticker? That barely covers cost... No, I wouldn't do it for that price.

    MH-721 computer to cutter issue

Here's something to try... In Device Manager, Under the USB Serial Port Properties --> Port Settings Tab --> Advanced Options: Make sure you have Serial Printer box checked. See if that helps. -P

    MH-721 computer to cutter issue

Are you using the USB ports in the front or back of the computer? The front ports don't have enough power to support the cutter. Also, have you plugged any additional USB devices in since the last time you cut? The ports could be a shared hub and again... running into the power issue. I've installed a dedicated USB card in my PC just for the cutter and most of my problems have gone away since then... Good Luck!
  11. That's a look of weeding... but I think I'm probably sitting at around $1.25 each and for 500, I'd probably pay some kids $200 to weed them for me.

    Printers for Shirt Press

Let us know how it works out... I'm more interested in the ink actually, I'm curious how well the cobra ink color matches with the Epson ink... and if you need to tone down the yellow for heat transfer like you do with the Durabrite ink.

    Custom Transfers

I have a customer that needs about 150 heat transfers made... no special requirements, 1-2 colors of their logo, fairly good quality that would last. Any ideas on where I can get those at a good price? Thanks
  15. Hi, I was wondering if anyone had used the GT Thermal Film (from H&H Sign Supply). If so, how is the quality of that and how does it compare to Siser? Thanks!

You also want to find out the hours on it... I'm thinking you'd want a sturdier table for the press...

  19. Have you checked your spam folder for the email? Or since it says your license has already been migrated to Signcut Pro, you can try downloading it with http://www.signcutpro.com/trial.php?key=yourlicencenumber and see if it works.

    New business strategy

Here's what we've done that worked well for us... we go into different businesses and offer them a package, Signs/banners/store front letterings and screenprinted T-shirts with their business/logo for employees. Depending on the business, we may also be offering decals (popular in skate shops, etc) and quantity discount for promo t-shirts. A lot of time, we'll just put in a little more work up front and show them what we can offer them by means of samples. We usually get their business within a month.

    cutter freezing up

Also, make sure you're using the usb port in the back of the computer. The ones in the front does not provide enough power and will lose connection frequently.

    Sign Cut Questions

I have a similar question along the same line... I have made a few AI files (saved as AI 8.0) which I had created a vectored box around the design as the weeding frame doesn't complete the cut if I'm only cutting 1 copy. I had successfully imported and cut all those designs on the original build of SC-Pro, but I have since updated to build 1.05 and now 1.07... SC-Pro doesn't open those files anymore without crashing. But if I go back in AI and remove the box I had previous added around the design and resave it, it opens and cut without any problems. Any ideas?

    Recutting of weeded objects

I can't seem to find that option anymore in SignCut-Pro. I remember it was under "Special Cutting" menu in X2, but it's not there anymore... has it been moved or should I be looking for something else? The options I have under Special Cutting are: Cut by Color, Cutting of Small Text, Advanced Contourcut, and Simple Contourcut... I have build 1.07 if that matters.
