Pigment ink is more water and fade resistant than dye ink.

Transfere Paper and Printer?
hockeygirl replied to VendettaVinyl's topic in T-Shirts and/ or Garments
I get mine from specialty graphics... around $0.50 per sheet for a pack of 100. -
Thanks wwpro... will give that a try!

can't cut... not even a test cut

If your cutter doesn't move at all, it could be a connection problem. What interface are you using and what settings do you have in your cutting software? -
MH871 Measurements/Feeding Question?
hockeygirl replied to KCR87's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Support Requests
One more thing, if your design is long, you might want to use the arrows (while offline) to feed the vinyl back and forth a few feet to make sure it is still on track, since you'll be cutting so close to the edge that there probably wouldn't be any room for error. -
MH871 Measurements/Feeding Question?
hockeygirl replied to KCR87's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Support Requests
If you push the offline button on the cutter, you can use the arrow keys to move the head in different directions. Position it to where you want the cutting to start (origin) and then press the origin button. -
MH871 Measurements/Feeding Question?

I would line the edge of the roll up at 7.5cm. Or you can move it down further and manually set your origin (take the cutter offline and adjust) just inside the vinyl. Hope this helps. -
Haven't used the electric but used the metallic, I don't remember exactly, but we ended up having to press another 10 seconds longer than the instruction that came with the roll... and it's a cold peel.

Collecting Sales Tax
hockeygirl replied to tattoo.dan's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
I collect sales tax on goods, not services... so if I'm installing a banner, I'll collect sales tax on the banner but not on the installation fee. Eventually, any goods you sell (whether or not you paid sales tax on) will be taxed and anything you purchased with your reseller ID or from out of state where taxes weren't collected, you'll still pay tax, you just pay it later. -
Definitely get the stand... otherwise, you'll probably end up regretting not getting one.

So I might have the opporunity to purchase a printer..Yeppy
hockeygirl replied to a topic in General discussion
My other half obviously had... and said it costs $25k for the 42" but he said it's a good printer, just not at the right price. -
I use the WF30 with JPSS, running exclusively with heat transfer fabric ink. I have a few shirts that have lasted well over 20 washes w/o any fading. Only thing is, they work only on light color shirts. I have tried the dark transfers but just don't care for them. I'm looking into making my own plastisol transfers since we have screenprinting capabilities... but still trying to track down where I can buy transfer papers.

Looks like it's MSRP for the Epson... still waterbased so supplies are going to be expensive compared to solvent/eco-solvent. -
MH871 and CorelDraw x4.
hockeygirl replied to nah2323's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
I think you would still need a cutting sw that has a plug-in for Corel... -
Yeah, I got mine with the $5 off coupon, and they only charged me $3 for shipping, but then I think I bought mine at $279...

what ink to start with in screen printing
hockeygirl replied to BigGreen's topic in T-Shirts and/ or Garments
Waterbased ink sets onces it's dried. You can also run an iron over it after dried just to be sure. -
Have you checked the "Force" setting on the cutter? I make that mistake all the time, sometimes my cutter turns on to 0g Force...

Transfere Paper and Printer?
hockeygirl replied to VendettaVinyl's topic in T-Shirts and/ or Garments
I have a WorkForce 30 (picked it up for $40 reburb at epson.com)... I only print small transfers with it, so don't need the 1100. But I am running that printer exclusively for printing transfers with the heat transfer fabric ink from http://www.inkjetcarts.us/. With the regular durabrite ink, I think you have to back off on the yellow... I heard lots of people have problems with the yellow and black when heated. Personally, I can't vouch for it either way, as I never ran the durabrite ink on transfers. I'm printing everything on JPSS. No issues there. -
multiple cut jobs - have to restart my computer?
hockeygirl replied to frizzy_motorsports's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
Not sure how the ports on your laptop is laid out, but you may want to try ports on the other side of the laptop, or not run any other devices off the other USB ports, and make sure your laptop is plugged in. Sometimes, some of the USB ports on the laptop are extended hubs, which do not contain enough power requirement to run the plotter. You may try disconnecting and reconnecting the cable in between jobs and see if the problem goes away... if that's the case, you're probably not getting enough power out of the port. -

or a different USB port? -
I'm trying to screenprint my own transfers... any suggestions on where to buy the transfer paper? And any recommendation on brands and whether or not I'd need adhesion powder as well. Thanks!
