  1. Hi, I am using mostly the Oracal 631 matte vinyl and someone on here suggested using US Cutter brand clear transfer tape for it.  Well that works much better than what I was using except I was wondering if that is what is recommended for the 631 metallic colors?  It doesn't seem to stick as good to the metallic.  Has anyone else had that problem too?  Should I use a different kind for the 631 metallic?  Thanks!

  2. Hello, my niece wants to get a hibiscus flower to stick on the taillights of her VW Beetle.  I have a couple but they are all filled in solid. She wants to have the outline of the flower with the inside area open.  I hope that makes sense.  The brake lights need to show through still.  Maybe you've seen some on some of the VW Beetles? Of if someone knows how I can reverse it so the inside is cut out and it has kind of a thick outside line left?  I use Flexi and I would need it in eps format.

Thanks for any help you can give!!

  3. OK, I got the profiles installed to the output profile area.  And I tried printing a photograph using the settings that you said you used (neron) and for output profile I used both the PGVP super and PGVP fine setting and they both still look bad.  It looks like the colors are printing right, but it still looks really grainy (like there is not enough ink or like it's a low quality photo that I tried to enlarge way too big.  I took the photo using 8 mega pixels and I'm only printing it at about 5"x3".  Is there some other settings I should adjust still?  Should I have color correction checked or unchecked?  If checked, how should I set the color settings?

Thanks a lot for your help!

  4. Yes I do have the SC-500.  I am still getting used to it.  I did try cutting from it when I couldn't get the Seiki to work but I think it's cutting too fast so I need to adjust it (don't know how yet) and it was having a motor error.  As soon as it finished cutting, it said motor error and made me turn off the machine.  It did that two times in a row as soon as it finished cutting.  Do you have any idea what causes that?

  5. Hi, I am using Flexi Sign pro 8.1 with a Seiki cutter.  It was working fine until this morning I tried sending a job to the Seiki and it says it's holding and won't send it.  I see under the general tab it's set itself to hold in list and the only other option is save to file.  I clicked on production manager and right clicked on my job on the list and clicked send and then it said setup inactive.

It was working fine yesterday.  Anyone have any ideas?  I have a bunch of items I need to get done today. I tried restarting Flexi and restarting my computer and it didn't help.

I also have a Roland and I tried sending something to the Roland just to test and it goes through to the Roland.  Under the general tab the send now option is there but for the Seiki, the send now option is not there.

    Please help!  Thanks!!

  6. Ok, I will try this out and post back.

As for the heater, what do you recommend setting it to?  When we set it too high (like at 50), the vinyl starts to get humps and bumps which messes up the printing so I have been trying it in the 30's and that seems to work better but still get some high spots showing up in the vinyl.

    Thanks again, I appreciate it!

  7. Thanks for the replies, I really appreciate the help!

I am using Oracal Orajet 3165 white glossy vinyl,  I have the Roland Eco Sol Max ink (6 colors).  I am using Flexi Sign Pro 8.1.  I tried to print a picture that I took with my camera set to 8 mega pixels.  I'm not sure what resolution that makes it.  I also tried printing out a picture that I downloaded off of Canon.com because they said they were high quality pictures to use for printing.  Usually the pictures are printing out grainy looking or the color is way off.

I had my color mode set to CMYKLcLm, the other choices are CMYK or Greyscale.  My Dither is FMXPress

For rendering intent they are all set to relative colorimetric except on the first line under Bitmap it says perceptual and I don't see how I can change that and under others it is also perceptual but I can change that (but I didn't change it yet).

For my color settings: RGB is set to Abobe RGB 1998, CMYK is set to US Web Coated (SWOP)v2 and it won't let me change it and Grayscale is set to US Web coated (SWOP)v2 and it won't let me change that. and 'use embedded profile' is checked.

For media I had it set to SPVC-G (SOL Hi Gloss White Vinyl because I am using a gloss vinyl. I don't see any thing where I can choose a specific type of vinyl or printer.

And my preset was set to SOL Hi Gloss White Vinyl SPVC-G CMYKLcLm Normal 360.

I set print mode to photo and also tried super and normal. I think setting it to normal the colors on the picture looked a lot better but it was very grainy looking and still looked bad.

So is there some other settings I should have for media and preset? And what should output profile be set to? And should I check the color correction box?

Let  me know if I need to give any other info.  Thanks again!!

  8. Hi, If I download a photo off the internet that someone put on there or one someone emailed me with a low quality/ low resolution, is it possible to edit the photo so it will print nice?  And what kind of photo editing software is the best to get?  Is it Photoshop?  I haven't had a lot of luck with printing photos so far.  Even ones that I take myself seem to not print out too good sometimes even if they are taken at 8 mega pixels so if anyone has some advice on how to get photos to print good and what software to get, I would really appreciate it!! Thanks

  9. I went down to my local vinyl store yesterday to get some vinyl I needed and they were all out of the color I needed and the only other place that I know of in this area was all out too!  So I decided I would try ordering some online from US Cutter.  Well, I placed my order yesterday afternoon for a few colors in 10 yard sizes and I figured it would be here in a few days.  I opened my front door this morning, and I was totally shocked to see that my vinyl was already here!  This is the fastest shipping I've ever seen.  I did pay a couple dollars extra for express shipping, but I added up the price and including the extra shipping, it still cost a little less than if I had bought the same amount of vinyl here locally.  Amazing!!  I just wanted to share that. ;D
