can you buy just the tops like on the dx-4?
here is a link for the heads http://cgi.ebay.com/DX2-ECO-SOLVENT-PRINT-HEAD-ROLAND-MUTOH-MIMAKI-/230593219267?pt=Printer_Accessories&hash=item35b06d4ac3#ht_514wt_1082
mine are 1000 each - can't imagine buying them for 200 LOL
PS they have this thing called solvent that all the ink manufacturers sell
Yeah, feel stupid after the fact now for even trying the paint thinner! I was actually looking at that auction if I need to buy new. Kicking myself in the butt for throwing away $400 bucks because of a stupid mistake.
Thanks for the help

I really messed up and just ruined the two print heads in my printer. As a warning to everyone, never try to flush out a print head with paint thinner. Oh it does clean out the head but also eats away the plastic on the head. So everyone of the damper connections became rubberized and broke.
So now I was wondering can anyone help me out the either has some extra heads around that possibly work or know of a place to pay a less expensive cost than brand new heads. I was in the process of getting this going after sitting a while because of blown head fuses, and am just going to sell. If I can find them cheap enough I will put in, otherwise I may just sell as-is and make the buyer aware of the problem.

Not long ago I had a tech out to work on my mutoh. He jumped the fuses with an alligator clip in order to replace the head and get everything working. He didn't have the proper fuses for the machine. He came back later and replaced the soldered in fuses with fuse holders and snap in fuses. He told me that if the print heads dry out and are trying to fire dry they will blow a fuse right away. With the machine off, check the continuity across the fuse and see if it is blown. Open means blown, continuity means the fuse is ok.
Hope this helps
This is exactly what I already did and YES!!! I am printing again! Feels good! But now I am only trying to get this going 100% again to sell. Wish I thought that I would use it more to make it worth keeping. It is not worth the hassle of worrying about the heads always drying up.

Thank you to all those with help and advice. I am now printing again but not quite at 100%. My head must have gotten plugged up again from the last time I had tried to print without success. Right now I am soaking the heads in the discharge tank with some cleaning solvent. Hopefully this will clean them up and get it printing normal again. I am just glad the heads are not bad. This is still for sale so if interested just ask questions.

The only true way to measure a fuse is to remove it from the circut..Ther might be a path thats in the circut that may give you a false reading if not...
These fuses won't just pull out easy! They are soldered right to the board. But I was brain dead last night and did not even think to measure voltage at each side.
-
hmmm must be an older model because when I looked it up it has 6 color and takes the DX4 heads which would be 3 head minimum - the ones you mention was used on the older models and are much cheaper to buy
After looking at their youtube video I see it has the older dx2 heads - interesting their prices are more than the other suppliers for the dx4 heads - unless you order from china
I did do some inspecting last night on the two head fuses, and so far it is looking like that is what may be wrong. When I test voltage at them the F1 is just slightly reading any voltage and f2 reads none. F1 is jumping around a bit in voltage but it is less than one. I am trying to confirm with someone how much voltage should be at these two fuses to really pin point that as the problem. Looks like I might get lucky here and have this actually printing again for selling.
-
I am about positive I have bad head fuses because I am getting a near 1 DCV reading on F1 and F2 is getting no reading at all. Does anyone know what the approximate voltage should be at these fuses. This is for a Mutoh Falcon 46" outdoor printer.
Thanks,

it would have to have at least 3 if it only used each head for 2 colors for each head - mine has 6. at 900 dollars a head it is important to know how many might need replaced. After it has sat that long chances are you are looking at all new heads so that factors in to any offer on the printer. if you find out how many heads please let us know
I did double check the number of heads and have confirmed by making a call to http://www.cmykparts.com that it does only have two heads and after seeing pictures of it again on the website I do recall just the two. The best part of me taking the time to call was that it is possibly in better shape than I thought. He said there is a good chance that I just blew the two fuses that work the head. This is a known problem when taking out the heads and not unplugging the printer from the power source. So my plan is to try and confirm this possibly tonight or over the weekend.
If it is the heads, on their website is listed the parts. http://www.cmykparts.com/MUTOH%20FALCON%20I%20(RJ-6100-46)%20PARTS.html price is $297 a head. I am suspecting it is the fuses based on what he told me and because they did both quit working at the same time.

I would think it is a mild form of personal spam ... depending on your definition of spam . if computer generated is the def , them no .. if from someone you don't know.. yes . I would not be afraid to e-mail back since they have your e-mail address already from what it sounds .... " who is knocking at the door ? ... open it & find out "
I have replied back to two of them but not getting a response back. Almost like they don't see my message or something.

Can anyone help me out with the following email I have been recieving the last couple of days. I am not sure if it is legit or not. The subject of the email has been the following: Re: chadarcy - viewing profile - uscutter forum.
the message is: Hello,
Hey didn't hear back from you, are you still in business ?
kathy
I won't give the email address of the person but this one is actually coming from a business website. Is this a form of spam or is someone actually replying to a post of mine. What is making me wonder if it could be a legit message is the subject line of the email message.
Thanks,

yup as i said mirror the design and put it on the regular side, it would look like complete crap if you tried to put it on the cling side. the backside of the vinyl looks just like the front. however be aware that you now have the adhesive in the sunlight so it will be exposed to more UV rays thus breaking it down quicker than normal.
Thanks I misunderstood you. I thought you wanted me to put the vinyl on the cling side, which would be against the window.
Great help on this forum!!

MM64 thanks for your help. That makes perfect sense!

I would apply to the side thats not touching the glass...
On the outside of the window you would cut it normal on the inside of the window you would cut it mirrored...
MM64
Ok that is what I was thinking but how does that side of the vinyl look with the glue on it. Is this the normal way to do an cling being used on the inside of a window but read on the outside.
-
apply it on the same side of the cling but mirror image the design.
To make sure the way you are saying to do it the vinyl will be between the glass and the cling. If that is the case are you sure you have to mirror it.
-
I have a potential customer which would like a business sign for a front window, but needs to be removed from time to time. She would like the cling to attach on the inside of the window to read from the outside. I have never worked with cling before. I am assuming if it were going on the outside of the window and reading from the outside this would be no problem. I am picturing that you just lay vinyl colors ontop of the cling so that it is on the outer surface. But with it clinging to the inside of the window wouldn't you have to put the vinyl color (lettering) on the same surface of the cling that will be going on the window. Will that work, or am I going about this wrong? Please help to clarify the procedure for me.
Thanks in advance!

I purchased this last fall with a vinyl cutter and cold laminator. It was all being sold together and I have found that I will not use it enough to keep the printer head from drying out. So with that being said, I learned the hard way and do have dried up print heads. I am going to be as honest as possible about what may be wrong still with this printer and want to sell as-is, but someone will still be grabbing this at a great price compared to a new one this size.
The heads were dried out, so I removed them and flushed them by using a syringe. That seemed to work great and got them unclogged, but when I put everything back together it did not print a head alignment. No ink at all! So what I am thinking is that I either damaged the heads, or did something wrong putting it back together. Everything else seems to be functioning fine. Startup procedure is fine, it will do a head alignment cycle but without ink being layed. The heaters are all working great and the feeding system is fine.
This all happened after doing some successful prints. So when I received it things were fully functional. So again this printer is being sold as-is and I will not take any returns. I have access to being able to load this into a shipping truck from a business with a loading dock, which will make a difference in shipping cost. I will place it on a skid and secure it properly and send pictures of the skid before being shipped to make sure you are satisfied. I am going to be firm with this price as I think it is extremely fair for something that is most likely an easy fix, just something I don't want to waste any of my time or money on when I will not be using it again.
So finally the price I am asking for this is $3000 not including the cost of shipping. Also shipping must be arranged by yourself. For pics of this printer please go to the following link which as you will see was well taken care of.

I solved my own problem by reading another post! I was not aware that you could shut off colors in the cutting screen. I had to hold shift down and click on each to get all of them to show up. Hope this helps others, and thanks for trying to help.

Could someone look at this file and explain to me why the text is not being sent when I try to do the cutting operation. I first imported a .eps of the image in this file and then added the text to it. All that sends over to cut is the wireframe of the image without the text.
Thanks,
Chad
Mutoh falcon outdoor print head

I hear you! That is crazy for just a print head. Guess I really shouldn't be complaining. I have learned though that it is worth taking the time to pull it apart to try and clean a clogged head. There is not really anything hard about it, except to do things with the correct solvents and make sure to unplug the printer.
