Do a test with a scrap dry. Not sticking means the surface is not clean. If the vinyl sticks good, then try it wet with a mix of water and a touch of liquid soap. This simple method has worked for over 20 years.

Start and end point don't match up.

I'm not familiar with your plotter but there should be a reset button somewhere on it. Just a simple thing to try. Sometimes it works. If not I'd go through the tracking tests described above. A lot also depends on the quality of the vinyl. You get what you pay for. I'm not comparing calendered to cast I mean Who manufactured it. There's some major junk vinyl out there. -
Metal feed rollers leave print on vinyl?????????
Knobhill replied to COOLDUDE's topic in Competitor Cutter Help
Get the free sample roll from Arlon posted in the vinyl section and see if it works better. I find oracal and/or calendered less forgiving. Never had this problem. The marks always went away. -

If you can hard reset the plotter, I'd try that and check the cables. -
Buy it on ebay or direct? I have the same plotter won on ebay and didn't like the artcut software at all. Not very stable and in metric only. Look at the power settings on your computer and disable any settings that would turn off idle ports to save power. This fixed many problems in the past. As suggested, always set your comunication settings to the plotter default in your computer. Saves time setting and resetting up. Let us know if Bridge ever responds.

When you buy replacement blades I'd suggest Roland brand instead of generic(compatible) if your holder accepts them.

Need to reboot everytime

I've seen problems with saving settings like this with other progams that were linked to OS problems. Try setting up with a clean OS install. Or add in a serial card as I suggested. http://www.pcimicro.com/.sc/ms/dd/1076230412266759/9/nc/Controller%2520Cards--Serial%2520Port%2520Adapter/2406/SYBA%2520PCI%2520to%25202-Serial%2520%2526%25201-Parallel%2520port%2520host%2520controller%2520card -
Thanx for the info. I'll try that to see if it's any easier. I still would like to see the workspace be infinite and the page size requirement eliminated. I design everything 1:1 scale. Not liking being constained by a predetermined workspace size that directly affects cutting space.

That is how it should weed. If not you need to clean up your design.

Thanx for the link. Great find.

For those of us who haven't cut anything that long yet, it's great news.

I broke my cutter. Help!
Knobhill replied to slopchops's topic in Creation PCUT Cutting Plotter Support Requests
Replace the main board in the cutter. If your using a laptop I'd not take a chance with a possible short others suggest which could severly damage a laptop. -
If you can boot to windows normally or in safe mode you should be able to uninstall the service pack, but it still messes up your OS a bit. Need to do some cleaning afterwards. Some programs may not work propery again either way.

There are rising issues with the latest service pack (SP3) for Windows XP released this week. I'd advise waiting at least a couple weeks before installing. Let microsoft work out the bugs that should have been fixed in beta testing. This is my personal opinion and not related to USCutter or it's staff. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Windows-XP-SP3,5334.html

I suggest getting your money back for the cable purchased and using an old school serial adapter(gender bender) for the original cable. Much cheaper and should work with normal setup after making sure the settings are the same between the 'puter and the cutter. Verify your serial pin count.

Thanx for the link, but the site doesn't offer what I'm looking for. Maybe it's time to reinvent the wheel again. Thanx again, it's still a great site.

I'm in need of an outline graphic of a '93 Subaru Impreza wagon. Anyone have it or know where to buy it? Thanx

This news came from someone in microsoft. Ignore it or not. i would not of posted this if I didn't see it for myself.

You can put the roll on to one of the rollers but you'll need inserts for the roll to center it and let it turn smooth. Old school cutters did it this way. No question is stupid just unanswered.

Simplifying setting the pinch roller location

A single roller engagement handle would also help when loading and aligning vinyl. -
Where would you like your business to go? How can we help?
Knobhill replied to marcuso's topic in USCutter Equipment Feedback or Suggestions
Good one JC! I'd be interested in a Gerber Edge like clone. Any budget minded thermal printer would be great. -
Need to reboot everytime
Knobhill replied to ratchet698's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
I won't argue with that but many, as I am, still use the parallel port for a printer.
