Yup. Two different brands will always cut slightly differently. Heck, even different colors of the same brand will do it! That's why most software you can "calibrate" to compensate for things like this.

What is the hat made out of?
-
Keep in mind it's going to have a VERY limited outdoor life (even if it is laminated with a UV absorbing laminate designed for this....aka not clear vinyl).
-
FYI, red and black don't go well together. They do not have the proper contrast. You'll have the same problem.

Plenty of used printers out there. But a quality used machine is still going to run about $5,000. Don't forget to get solvent or eco-solvent if you want to put anything outdoors.

They come in handy, but with a measuring tape and a digital camera you can make your own. Just take a picture and then scale it appropriately. Plus, then you can offer a proof to the customer of it on their vehicle. Of course, this doesn't work well if you don't have access to their vehicle ahead of time, in which case find a parking lot and look for the same make/model.

No you can't. Sub it out to someone with a printer designed for this.

If you're printing on vinyl (like a real printer and not your laptop's printer right?) they have actual overlaminates for that purpose to prolong the life of digital prints.

What you're looking for is called transparent vinyl. Like ORACAL 8300.

Anything printed that is supposed to last any length of time. Especially if it's going outdoors.

Got my very first sign job gotta few questions!

Get a tape measure. Just measure side to side to center it. Measure from the top on both sides to make sure it's level. -
Experts: How to get rid of unwanted customers?
darkdan replied to JoeCamaro's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Speaking as a consumer myself I learnt a long time ago: 1.) If someone is 1/2 or 1/3 the price..........they're usually 1/2 or 1/3 the quality or 1/3 the customer service 2.) If I want it now, I'll pay double. I'm the kind of guy that pays $20 for overnight shipping on something that costs $10. I'm also the kind of guy that pays the extra $40 here and there to places that offer me better customer service. Money I can make, time I can't. If the guy down the street wants to cater to cheap customers that are time wasters, let him. I've seen plenty of businesses go under with that marketing plan. -
Do you have a screen printer?
-
The only thing I do wet nowadays is layering. Edit: Spelling
-
I'll be that guy. Dry. You don't want him to hit 80 mph on the way home and have it peel up. Plus, what about curves, door jams, etc. Learn proper application techniques and how to squeegee and air bubbles won't be a problem.
-
Let me be the first to say, that red and black do not have the proper contrast to be used together in most cases. Sure, they look pretty together up close, but from a distance they turn into one and blur out the text/image. No matter what a customer wants, they don't get black and red.
-
Yes Are you going to have an application tape that will actually pick it up? I can't get my 4075-rla to lift it to save my life.
-
There's a fine line for humidity. I wonder what the manufacturer's say. If it's too dry, you'll have static issues.

Raise the price. =) -
From what I've seen/used/heard............you don't want it. Even if it is free!

Rival niche markets: One store?
darkdan replied to JoeCamaro's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Selling something like motor oil and hair combs in the same place, no problem. If you're going onto two ends of the spectrum like that, you'd be better off having two stores. Sure, those in the middle (the majority) won't have a problem. However, it only takes a few on either extreme of anything to make a lot of noise. -
Flea Markets: I am going to give it a try

Okay, I can accept that and agree with it. -
