Awesome to hear! I'm using flexistarter but I have the keyspan so I'll probably try it. I'm going to run a time machine backup just in case first though. Thanks

    PolyPro Cutting Mats

Does anyone have any opinion on these cutting mats sold through uscutter? Are they any good quality? Are they double sided?

Just a htought on the static problem...

If anybody does this please post some pics. I've had my plotter for a week and haven't had any problems until last night. I loaded a brand new roll of black and in the middle of 4 different cuts that all lasted about 5 minutes each it would stop and say WAITING on my PCut.

Some things to help me get started

Squeegee, Exacto Knife, vinyl, application tape, ruler, painters tape (for hinging applications), cutting surface, spray bottles (if you want to do wet installs), alcohol for cleaning... that's just the stuff I've come across in my first week.

Flexi 8.5 Mac OS X problems!

If all of that doesn't help try running through this entire thread. Again it's the wrong software but it is the same plotter and it's about a mac.

Flexi 8.5 Mac OS X problems!

Make sure your plotter is set to 9600 as well. In fact just run through the guide for new people found here in the first post... I know it's windows based and different software and cutter but I ran through it and it helped me. Let me know what's going on. I'm new myself but might be able to help you out a bit.

Flexi 8.5 Mac OS X problems!

What does the plotter screen say? Is the carriage hitting the red buttons on the side of the machine? I don't have my machine plugged in right now so I can't give you the full screen shot of what it looks like connected but here are my settings.

    Transfer paper

http://www.uscutter.com/RTape-ApliTape-4075--High-tack-General-Purpose-Application-Tape-100yd_p_143.html You'd pay 119 if you bought if off their website and had it shipped to you. So Pretty good if you need that much 12". I'd personally rather have a bunch of different sizes than 4 of the same thing.

    Fluids

Hello all. I'm about to do my first install next week and I want to get all the fluids I might need... Cleaners/Application fluids. For cleaning I've been told to use rubbing/isopropanol alcohol. But is that all you use for cleaning the glass? Or do you use a glass cleaner without ammonia first and then use the alcohol? And what about for paint on a car? Is it safe to use alcohol on a car paint? For Application fluid I've read on here to mix a gallon 3/4 full of water, 3 or 4 squirts of liquid dish soap, and then fill the rest with more alcohol. Is that right? Is there anything else I need to know? Any special kind of dish soap?

    PCUT LCD

It looks like crap. Whatever I guess. Thanks.

    PCUT LCD

My new PCut LCD Panel looks like it has a clear film cover on it that should be peeled off before use. I tried to pluck at it a bit but it doesn't really want to come off. Is it suppose to come off or does the panel just look a little bubbly? Brad

    Why so negative

I've been looking at getting a new plotter for the past month now since I miss it so much from my days at a sign shop. I cannot afford to get into it like we were at the shop... flexiExpert and a nice 30" graphtec, and so I stumbled upon uscutter. I'm just curious why there seems to be so much negative attitude out there for the value plotters this company sells? In trying to decide I've looked at a lot of forums and most people only have negative things to say about them, "they're junk, their garbage, i've been shipped 3 now and all are DOA, you get what you pay for, etc". So are they really that bad? Or is it just the one or two people that have had a negative experience dropping their blood in the water and so it spreads and looks a lot worse than it is? Or is it the snobs that have invested 5k into the craft who say "you can't do anything with only $600 dollars... you need at least 2 grand"? In all honesty, the negative comments do worry me... they are the reason I have not purchased a pcut yet. That and the fact that uscutters terms and conditions (in my opinion) sound like a company that doesn't believe in their own product. I mean if I have a plotter that is DOA I might just want a refund, but that would cost me 25% of the purchase cost. Sure they'd ship me another for free but maybe I would think all my fears are true and just not want to mess with it. Last night I finally came to the conclusion I will buy from uscutter... oddly enough with all the negative talk out there with the value line of plotters, and the poor return policy (in my opinion), uscutters actually has very high ratings on amazon and on ebay. That's what I don't get... why so negative on other forums if their rating is so high on two very popular sites?

    Line Cutting Problem

Sorry if this isn't the right place... I'm still learning this board. I got my new PCut set up last night... Here's the full rundown. Creation PCut 24" Keyspan Adapter White Oracal 651 24" Roll Mac OSX 10.6.7 FlexiSTARTER 8.5v2 I'm having a problem where the blade hits and lands. I don't really know how to explain it... So I took this picture. Specifically notice the right of the B and the left side of the O's. Now I know this text is small, but it happens on my larger stuff too. I've tried the Blade offset but I'm not sure that helped anything. Any ideas? This is the only problem I'm having with my new plotter. I'm pretty excited... I thought I would have a lot more.

    Line Cutting Problem

Thanks skeeter... My blade offset is about .020 i believe, I'm not there to look at it right now. Any idea which way to go or is it just trial and error? I turned the speed down to 50 last night but I'll take it down a little slower, I'm not in any big hurry. I think the blade is pretty good but it might be able to go back up a little bit. I had also turned the pressure down to about 110.

    Why so negative

Skeeter... you were correct after all. I called SAi and talked to their technicians. There is only 8.5 v2 for mac but there is 8.6 for windows. USCutter has got it wrong apparently and needs to take down their product page I linked to earlier.

    Why so negative

Well I just opened up the rest of my order to check everything. They sent me a 50 yard roll of white 651 when I only ordered a 10 yard roll. So bonus me I guess. I actually called them to let them know what happened, as I didn't want to start my business ventures off dishonestly. They are charging my order an extra 20 bucks to keep the larger roll.
  19. theishkid

    Why so negative

Yea the case says 8, the disc says 8.5v2. I know the mac and pc versions are definitely not on the same track/pace. Meaning that they might have added something in PC 10 that would be on Mac 8.6. I submitted a support ticket so maybe I'll hear something soon.
  20. theishkid

    Why so negative

I believe you are incorrect. My order has 8.6 on it and there is a link for 8.6 on uscutter... http://www.uscutter.com/FlexiSTARTER-v86-for-Mac_p_222.html
  21. theishkid

    Why so negative

Well my order arrived this morning. I haven't had time to set it up yet but I did pull out Flexi. My order said they were sending 8.6 but they only shipped 8.5v2. Anyone know the difference?
  22. theishkid

    Why so negative

Well to be honest with all the negativity out there I wanted to get the thing and make sure I could set it up and run it fine without wanting to send it back before i invested an extra few hundred dollars on vinyl that I wouldn't be able to get rid of. If all goes well I'll start ordering more soon!

Plotters coming... things I need to know???

I hear what you're saying and I'm going back over the manual... I guess I'm just a little nervous about setup on a mac, I'm not seeing things like that anywhere. They're talking about com ports, baud rates... Does all that info transfer to the mac?
  24. Just ordered... Creation PCut 24", Keyspan adapter, Flexistarter 8.6, roll of Oracal 651. I'm on a 15" Macbook Pro (the one right before unibodies came out), running 10.6.7. I'm just wondering if there is anything I need to know before this thing comes? Any pointers? Any definitely do's? Definitely don'ts? Order of installation? Drivers I should download ahead of time? Etc. I'm just trying to get any information possible to make sitting things up as smoothly as possible. Anything you wish you knew when you were sitting yours up? I've read a lot in the past couple of weeks contemplating the purchase but it's all been fragmented or for other software/plotters/etc. Thanks in advance. Brad
