  1. Used MH721 24" plotter.  Have kept it for a backup for several years, never needed it.  I'm moving into a new space and getting rid of extra equipment.  Front is scratched up, but controls are clean and the display is clear I think I only used it about a year or so before I got a Laser Point.   Has the stand and pretty sure I have the box to ship it in.  Also comes with cover, USB cord and Power cord.  It doesn't come with any software, but I know Sure Cut's Alot from US Cutter works with it.  I'm not sure what it would cost to ship, but buyer will have to agree to pay actual shipping costs once I get it boxed quoted.  Asking $75 + actual shipping.

message jfought and see if he has time - he has a wider printer than me, I know he has wrap material  and I have quite a bit to finish up before the cruise in 3 weeks, and 8 weeks - taking care of my regulars and the people that I have committed to at this point.  full wrap is going to be a nice chuck of change for someone that has the time!  betting $2200-$2400 with the right materials

I definitely understand if that's what it needs to be then that's just what it is.  The graphics don't really require printing since there's no gradients and only 2 major colors, so this is probably the most economical way to do it anyway.  He only paid $1500 for the truck.  I'm charging him $2000 to do it this way.  I guess I'm just going to have to spend an extra day on it.  This is what I'm using for the blank material it will cost me $600 plus another $250 in cut vinyl then whatever time it takes me.  I'll definitely post pics, maybe even make a video for my facebook page.  http://www.uscutter.com/Avery-Dennison-SW900-Easy-Apply-RS-Super-Wrap-Film-60-By-The-Foot

  3. Bottom line is, this is a job that isn't in your geographic area, therefore one which you will not have gotten otherwise.  So, if you're not busy, you've got ink in your printer, vinyl in stock, turn it into cash and help out a peer.  I own a screen printing shop, someday you may need shirts at contract pricing, something which I provide local shops with when they are getting behind.

problem is most people don't know the cost of real cast wrap material and don't think about the substantial investment in the printer, lamina tor and upkeep - they think in terms of a cutter.  I'm out for 2 reasons, smaller printer and going on vacation in a little over 3 weeks but from experience people that use the phrase " knows how much your vinyl and ink costs" don't have a real clue on the overall cost involved.   good luck people - let the games begin

I understand all that, and I'm willing to pay you for your time and your material costs.  I have print ready artwork, all you gotta do is print and ship.  At the prices I'm being quoted now it is cheaper for me to just wrap it with blank material then install cut vinyl on top of it.  It will take a few extra hours but I can bill him for that and still come out cheaper than the prices I'm being given, that's all.  Even if I did own a printer and this were the case I would go that route.  The rivets are going to suck, but I've done it before.  Looking at these pictures, the website is actually a little crooked on the larger one, but I think you really have to be looking to see it.

  5. I have a client that bought a cheap box truck and was going to have me put vinyl on.  However, he removed the old vinyl and it has stained the sheet metal underneath and now he wants it wrapped to cover the old graphics.  I don't have a wide format printer and don't want to lose the job.  I can't find a local supplier to give me a decent price on just the printing and material.  How much would would someone here charge me to print the vinyl so I can keep the job and still make some $ on the install?  I just need the stuff on the cargo bay, the cab I can do with cut vinyl myself.  My other option is to just buy blank vehicle wrap material myself and cover the whole thing, then go back over it with cut vinyl but I really want to avoid that.

  6. You should bill her direct and treat her as the client, if she resells the end product and charges them for graphics, that's her business.  If anything is wrong at that point it is her problem, not yours.  She is the graphic artist, so she should be able to work any color issues with you.  You should also insist that you print a small maybe 6" x 12" color proof for her to show the client before you print anything for her and maker her sign off on that proof in case she fails to show the end client.   I would give her a break on the printing since she obviously is bringing you work, but let her know your prices are firm and that she is going to have to consider that when pricing jobs in the future.  It sounds like she is quoting jobs without considering the true cost of the end product to produce.  I think that would be a better deal for both of you, you can train her to deliver what you need, plus she is like an outside salesperson you don't have to pay or babysit, she doesn't run the risk of you cutting her out by contacting her clients directly.

  7. I need a 24"x36" piece of acrylic printed, I'm looking for someone with a flatbed printer that can digitally print it for me.  The graphics are all lettering and geometric shapes, but they are too small for me to cut out of vinyl.  I also have a wide format printer, but the cost of buying an entire roll of clear material isn't worth it to me, I also think you could see the clear sheeting, so I'd rather just get it printed directly.  Just looking for pricing right now, I can't seem to find any printers using a google search so I thought I'd throw it out here.

  8. That inksoft looks pretty awesome! I'm not at the point of being able to support $200 a month for an online store though, I'm just a little part time word of mouth custom vinyl guy... maybe someday.

checked out the prices,ya no thanks for monthly fees etc.. my guy is setting it up for how i want it, its going to be basic and easy. I get alot of customers who are just looking for a quote. and its going to allow them to choose a area size like 3" tall x 45"wide, color of material with visual chips to see, type of material like 631,651,751,951 etc and then they guess on complexity of design which will multiply and give an estimate, I will be able to change any numbers as needed for my liking. Right now Thanks to Toppers idea, im seeing about getting a preview window with fonts possibly, but not sure yet. right now im about 600 in costs and own the rights to this not the designer. i called around and this is the staring price for anyone else to try and do,

So if anyone ends up liking mine, i will sell them the proper info at a HUGE discount ..Thats if anyone would even want it..If not ,then its all mine . Im doing the setup for what alot of my customers asked for and make it easy to work with,Not what i think it should be.. They dont want it cluttered or to much info and get confused....The easier for them to understand and use the better.Ive been working on this for awhile with my customers before i had the guy start on it.

That's cool, I was just throwing it out there.  The monthly fee isn't really that bad considering you don't just get 1 store, you get 24 (for some reason they gave me 99).  And they can be full fledged stores with the online design tool, or just a stripped down fundraiser stores.  This functionality alone has gotten me several thousand dollars worth of work in the past couple of months since I've gotten it.  I guess it is a little more valuable to me since I do t-shirts as well as vinyl and wide format printing and sublimation.

While we're on the subject of calculators, here's a non graphical one I made years ago, anybody is welcome to it:

  9. Inksoft offers something, I think their packages start at $1000 down and $100 a month.  I have their tier two package which was $1500 down and $200 a month.  it has an online design studio that can be used for vinyl or t-shirts, you can customize ink/vinyl color, substrate/background colors you can have open up to 99 webstores at a time, has built in quoting capabilities, crm database tools, store reporting, etc, etc, etc.  I'd be interested to know how much you are payed for a custom tool.  I looked into this several years ago and found that any company that had the ability to do it right wanted way too much, and anybody that agreed to do it for a decent rate was vastly underestimating the project.  Check out InkSoft and let me know if you think you would've still used your guy knowing about them and their capabilities ahead of time.

  10. Used exposure unit for screen printing, I was going to use it as a light table since the top frame and vacuum blanket are missing.  Not sure if the vacuum is still working, but I'm pretty sure it's there, because this thing is heavy.  The lights still work, just needs cleaned up.  The only reason I'm not using it is that it will not fit in my house, lol.  I have an old house and the door openings are only 30".  The measurements on this are 42"x32"x35".

  11. There's no need to respond in such an aggressive manner and with such rubbish. There are several larger businesses operating on Ebay selling these stickers and as I've explained I naively assumed this would be fine for that reason. I am not arguing that there's an issue now that I've read up on it, I'm simply confused at why other, larger sellers are allowed to continue operating selling the same decals that presented an issue for me.

Break the law? Calm down mate, not exactly selling Cocaine on Ebay am I?

Dude, you are breaking the law.  You might as well be selling cocaine, check out the fines:

    http://supolicies.syr.edu/docs/alcohol_penalties_federal.pdf

Secondly, watching someone else break the law isn't an excuse to do it yourself is it?  Larger companies may not be "caught" as you put it, because they have either gone through the proper channels and received licensing agreements to reproduce the logos or they are simply better at hiding like maybe not naming their item by the copyright holder's name (ie adidas widget).  Secondly, you just got a letter, who's to say that the other companies didn't get the same letter and are just ignoring it, or maybe there's a pending lawsuit you don't know about, which would take longer than sending a letter.

So, all in all, you're just being immature, you did something wrong, you got caught and now you feel singled out so you're trying to justify your actions by stating that "everyone else is doing it".  A copyright judge wouldn't buy that and neither do I.  So, once again, don't be a dunce.

  12. I would be very concerned about the fact that it was paypal and not e-bay that is stopping you because that means that they probably have access to your sales and banking transactions with paypal which could mean that they are getting ready to launch a law suit.  It's pretty dumb to blatantly sell trademarked or violate a copyright on the internet, especially e-bay and especially using pay-pal where all the transactions are tracked.  If you're going to break the law a strictly cash no advertising policy is the way to go you dunce.

  13. Well, if they're losing money just wait them out until they go bankrupt and buy all their inventory and equipment at auction prices.  That's how I got most of my stuff.  And yes, this happens all over place since the cost and learning curve to enter the industry is fairly small there are plenty of fly by night operations that crop up and then go out of business shortly after.  For that reason, most people who get into this business are just not good business people and therefore don't last long.  I stopped buying new equipment several years ago, there's plenty on craigslist and e-bay.

  14. My name is Allan, I own a company called Studio413.  You can find me on facebook at ShopStudio413.  I do custom t-shirts as well as vinyl and sublimation graphics.  I have a degree in graphic arts and just bought out another company this year and started working full time in my business.  Check out my stuff and feel free to contact me with specifics and I can get you a quote.  I will need to know shirt sizes and quantities, how many print colors and locations.

  15. Not that this is going to change anyone's mind, and no, it has nothing to do with the original question.  But, I thought I would enlighten a few of these southern boys about what the southern states considered the reason they were leaving the union.  They claim that it had nothing to do with slavery, and more about state's rights.  But, in every single one of their articles of secession slavery is mentioned more than any other reason.  By every state.  Period.  This was written by the people who made the decission at that time, not some people who want to rewrite history 100 years later.  I think you absolutely have the right to wave the rebel flag on your property or person, but it shouldn't be on state or federal land or places of public gathering.
