Hello Guys, New to the fourm, but not new to vinyl signs. In 1992 I started out using a Gerber Graphix 4b it used weights on the blade for cutting, I made Road signs for my fathers Road Construction Equipment Company. I ran the sign shop for 5 years before I left to go to Graphic Design School. While in school I worked at Fastsigns for about 6 months. After that I moved on to designing, I have been a proffessional Graphic Designer since 1998 and I have been wanting to get a cutter to make decals and such for fun. So 3 weeks ago I pulled the trigger (not US Cutter I know shame on me) I got a Vinyl Express R19 (Redsail rebrand) from SW along with a heat press for making T-shirts. Got both plus vinyl, tape, etc. for $399 so I could not pass it up. Works like a champ and I still have skills (been a while so I've been oops remembering my mistakes very quickly), I use Adobe Illustrator to design on my Mac and transfer on thumb drive to a PC laptop with the LXi software to cut. Been having a blast and even thinking about maybe doing some decals/shirts on the side to pay for the machine and supplies. Looking forward to chatting and learning all the new fancy cutter techniques now, seeing as that 4b I used was text on a tiny LCD screen and it used punched vinyl.
