Problem with transfering Inkscape file to signcut

Problem solved. Here is what i was doing wrong. On the earlier post step 3 : i was choosing the worng option, you have to choose brightness cutoff if you want to follow the single line of the image. Thank god, it took a while but finally figured out. Thanks for the help.

Problem with transfering Inkscape file to signcut

O.K here is the exact steps on what i am doing so that it may be easier for someone to tell if i am missing something. 1- Import file into Inkscape 2 - click on path box in upper tool bar 3- choose trace bitmap - another window opens and i choose - edge detection then hit update then ok 4 - i move the new copy out of the way and delete the original , now i am left with just the outline 5 - then i save as .eps file and convert text to paths. 6 - then open with sign cut and it shows all original lines to be outlined

Problem with transfering Inkscape file to signcut

Did you find out anything on how to change the double lines to single lines?

Problem with transfering Inkscape file to signcut

Also when i import into inkscape it only has 1 set of lines which are the outlines of the image, it is only when i trace bitmap and set to edge finder. that is when it changes the image and shows the line to be hollow and outlined, Does that make sence? Kind of hard to explain. I guess i am telling it to find all edges for paths and it does pretty much, it is taking that one outline that defines the picture and tracing it on each side.

Problem with transfering Inkscape file to signcut

    1) figured out how to turn weeding frame of, the frame is unnecessary for some of the work that i do. 2) Still working on, i have been reading into the forums more and i see that there have been others that have ran into this problem, i also see that you can set the vector image to read single paths or double paths, this is what i am still working on. I would show the image but am new to this forum and do not know how to add image so that it can be viewed...another problem..LOL 3) As far as moving the pic to the center of the vinyl, your suggestion is one that i have been using already, just running manual adjustments on the control panel on machine. I was just wondering if there was an offset adjustment on the signcut software that allows you just to punch it in instead of doing it manually on control panel. Thanks

Problem with transfering Inkscape file to signcut

I was able to figure it out finally, this is what was happening. once i imported the file into inkscape i was missing a step which was to select path bar and trace bitmap, once this was done i was able to save and open in sign cut. Took me a bit but now it is working fine. There are a few other details i have been trying to read up on but cannot seem to find answers. 1) Once the pic is cut out the cutter cuts a weeding box around picture, were can i go to turn this feature off in signcut? 2) When the picture is transferred over to sign cut it reads the lines as double lines and wants to cut out both, it is like it is reading the inside and outside of the original line ( if that makes sense ), So instead of cutting the one line it should it cuts it as 2 lines, any suggestions on how to get it to read it as 1 single line? 3) also i am trying to center the picture in the vinyl using the offsets but it does not seem to be working, is ther somewhere else to set this? I am just tring to get the picture further away from the edges, prefferably in the center of the vinyl . Thanks for all the help. Love the Cutter

Problem with transfering Inkscape file to signcut

I wrote help in ink scape then saved as eps and paths, then opened with signcut and it worked machine cut it just fine, now i did try to do a cut just using the sign blazer software and that gave me troubles it is getting late so i could not get it to cut, instead it tried printing it on my printer. But signcut did work with fonts, but it will not work with even the simplest of jpeg pics that i have ?? Why would this be. I even made the pics just a solid black color so that it could follow simple lines but its a no go. I know that this machine is capable of it , i just need to figure out what i am doing wrong. Maybe i can e-mail the pic to someone with the same machine and they could see if it works for them, if that's the case then i am definitely doing something wrong here. Thanks for any advise and help that anyone can provide.
  13. Forgive me if there is already a thread about this problem but i could not seam to find one. 1st off i just recieved my PCut with the signblazer software and the 1 year use of SignCut. So here we go, i am taking my jpeg pictures i have and running them through Inkscape to save them as eps file and then save as paths and everything seems to work, but when i try to open file in SignCut it shuts down the signCut program and says that it encountered a problem, What could be the problem here? Thanks
  14. Recieved my PCut today, i had a little time with it but now i am leaving town 3 days, looks like a good machine, packaged very well.
