  1. No fix on two machines. Ended up replacing with a Roland. Pheonominal difference in build and cut quality... then again, there's a pheonominal differnce in price too!
  2. Was having the exact same experience... a Roland solved my problems! Daddy-o
  3. Wow. I'm in Virginia and it usually takes 5 to 7 business days... FedEx must have trouble getting the stuff over the mountains! Placed an order last night, so we'll see. Daddy-o Yep... shipped on Monday the 15th - expected deliver Monday the 22nd... 5 business days/7 including the weekend. Hey at least they are consistent! Daddy-o

  5. Interesting... While I found their machines to be of inconsistent (if not dubious) quality. I have never had a problem ordering supplies. Shipping does take a while, but that's FedEx Ground's fault - and I'm willing to suffer through the delay for the flat $9.99 shipping. Vinyl is heavy. I have had several banner's and or rolls of Oracal dropped shipped and they usually show up before USCutter's order. Again because another carrier or faster method of shipping was used. When things run smoothly - they're great. If there is a bump in the road - it's ugly. It's just like playing Russian roulette! Just my 2 cents based on my own personal experience. Daddy-o
  6. Actually, it was two... the original and a replacement. Unfortunately, no I do not know if they investigated or not.
  7. Yes. Replace the unit with a Graphtec or Roland. USCutter worked out a reasonable deal on a Roland GX-24. Couldn't be happier with the Roland. Cut like butter right out of the box and with Cutstudio, I'm sending work straight out of AI - streamlining workflow and saving gobs of time to boot. I'm sure its not the answer you were looking for, but sometimes money does equal higher quality. Daddy-o

iMac or MacBook Pro or MacMini

I'm using AI CS3 on a 15" Macbook Pro with CutStudio and a Roland GX-24. Everything has worked flawlessly and I have been really pleased (other than a minor bobble when I upgraded to Snow Leopard, but an update of CutStudio quickly resolved it). I have been looking for an external display myself. Apple's 24" LED isn't compatible with the older DVI connection on my MBP and I can't justify the cost of a 30" cinema display (even refurbished). If I had a newer MBP, I would be looking very hard at the 24" LED. In typical Apple fashion though, it's well done, but not exactly friendly to "legacy" equipment - LOL if you can call a year old laptop legacy equipment! Daddy-o Yet another happy PC to Mac convert...
  9. Not a horrible thought NatDragon, but 'how' a brand or trademark is used is more important than the pittance gained through royalty fees. It is more about protecting ones reputation and avoiding dilution and/or saturation of an identity. Not to be snarky, but to answer your last question, it could potentially be very bad. Logistical nightmare, negative exposure, commiditization of your company name and of course someone out there would figure out a way to make you liable if something goes wrong... very bad indeed! Received my 3rd cutter and still problems

Mader, Glad to see you are making progress and USCutter has come through for you. Keep us posted on how the new cutter works. This 'IS' better than who shot JR! Daddy-o

Don't hold your breath on the free shipping. USCutter will waive the 20% restocking fee after you have paid round robin to ship two or three cutters back and forth and then paid a premium to upgrade to a working machine. I'm still waiting, on principle alone, for the $9.99 refund Howard promised would be included when I returned the 2nd LP24 for the Roland. Given my experience (and obviously what you are going through), I'm not sure I would purchase the Copam. Still a bitter pill to swallow, but I would invest the additional funds in either the GraphTec or the Roland. I've been there and had to make the same decision. Any savings you would see in purchasing a lower quality unit have already been lost in shipping and more importantly your time and the frustration you have experienced. Daddy-o

Mader. Late to the party and sorry to see you are having problems. I went through a similar situation with two LP24's before replacing with a Roland. Not what you wanted to hear I'm sure... suddenly your $300 bargain turns into a $1,700 investment, but I have had ZERO problems since making the switch. Work with USCutter. Daddy-o
