    Fossil vector art

A fossil of what? T-Rex a la Jurasic Park look? Give me more detail to hammer something down more precise.
  2. Not sure if you've got this solved yet but I'll give you the know how. Create your path, then in the stroke palette check the box dashed line. Then set the point width size just below that box, this adjust the width between the lines. Now here's the really cool part. Once you have your stroke go into the Effect and select 3D then select the Rotate option (click the preview to assist you with the view) Set the perspective around 150 then play with the x and y axis until you get it just right and this will give you a truly foreshortened line as if to go into the distance. If you wish you can expand this but if you do you can't adjust the stroke width. Now another way you can do this ( and is much more advanced ) is with Blends. Make a small rectangle shape near the top, make a larger one near the bottom. Select both then go to Blend under Objects (keystroke Option-Apple . Set the Blend Options. Select the align to path and set the number of steps. The path that this is aligned to is called the spine and can be adjusted or shaped, but this alone will not do what you need. What you need to do after that is Envelope Distort and set the "make with Mesh" option then set the rows to 1 and the columns to 1. This can then be adjusted to any shape you like but with a little more difficulty, but a much more accurate representation. Cheers, good luck.

    help with a font

Although it's not recognizable to me, (there are 1000's of typefaces out there there are a couple of websites you can load up your image to and they'll give you a pretty close match. ie http://new.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ it's free but not always accurate. Additionally, you could scan the image in @ 300dpi then pull it into Illustrator CS2 (CS works too) and Autotrace it with a reasonably good result. Cheers
