    oracal 951

has any one had any experience with oracal 951? i just purchased 2 yards of it, since it was available locally. when comparing it to oracal 651, the 951 is more flexable and more "soft", it is thinner as well. it is more glossy. here is the issue: when you brush anything against it , it leaves an imprint in the vinyl. when it goes threw the pinch rollers (on my sc cutter) it leaves marks. i have to be careful where i put my pinch rollers or else it will imprint the diamond pattern in the vinyl from underneath. when i pull my finger nail across it it leaves a permanent imprint in the vinyl. 651 may be superior to 915 due to the fact that all these things i mentioned above do NOT happen with 615. 915 seems to be extremely sensitive.

yeah. it was the font i guess. it cut perfectly fine once i changed the font. i also slowed down the cutter to speed 300 instead of 400. either way, thank you

    curling up application tape

well... i bought a budget brand application tape, but ONLY because: -it was local, in stock at my vehicle wrap suppliers warehouse -it was highly recommended by the sales rep saying it is the most sold application tape they carry. (they carry rtape oracal and several other brands) i just cut my very first vinyl. went to apply the tape to it and, its curling up. i am applying it to Avery Wrap supreme vehicle wrapping vinyl the problem may be that the backing paper is very very glossy and slippery because vehicle wrap vinyl has very sticky adhesive. i will be using oracal 651 vinyl for most everything else but, i have avery wrap supreme vehicle wrapping vinyl (3.2 mil) in stock and felt like cutting out something for my mazda 2. bottom line. vehicle wrap vinyl backing paper, will it always cause tape to curl up? or could it be that the application tape itself may be just less expensive stuff. i'll be calling fellers tomorrow to ask the rep what they think, and if they agree other application tape may be more applicable for my use.

    unacceptable refurbished unit

based on how others, in reviews on amazon and other sites, complain about lack of support i had an uneasy feeling about calling in. but after doing more research i found that i should be more positive about the issues. uscutter has been doing a great job over the phone. having a 2nd issue with my order, the cutting strip arriving 1 inch to short, im not sure what to think. i will not be filing a support ticket on their website for this. after i got off the phone i took an Xacto and cut off the "Stamped" area of the cutting strip, (looks like it was the end of the manufacture's roll stamped and cut at the end , 1 inch to short) and then overlay my old cutting strip, in an area where it was not scored, ontop of the new cutting strip and sliced the 2 together. this is not in a cutting area, this is at the "origin" stop area and it will not effect the cutters ability. i'd just like to post up that it was an issue and uscutter was more then ready to look at my photo and replace the cutting strip for me. uscutter isnt bad. i just apparently havent had the best luck with them. but i will be purchasing from them again thanks to their helpful staff and great attitude over the phone.

    unacceptable refurbished unit

i got my replacement cutting strip today, it was 1 inch to short. it looks like it was the "end of the roll" because there is a stamp pattern and it is cut kind of jagged. i called and let them know they said send pictures and they will either: A. send me a replacement B. send me credit, i can use part of my old cutting strip to "splice in" and fill the 1 inch gap. i have not received the end cap or dust cover yet. that was shipped from a separate location . keeping my fingers crossed that i dont have any more issues.
  12. yep! i know to keep the pinch roller needs to be over the feed roller on the bottom! learned that while doing some testing with a pen and paper

    buying first transfer paper

i would like to ask, what do you use(be specific) and why? R-Tape, Main tape, green star? there are several types of r-tape, one that is the "RTape Clear Choice AT60" (at75 for high tack) http://www.uscutter.com/RTape-Clear-Choice-AT60-General-Purpose-Clear-Medium-Tack-Application-Tape-100yd this says its clear but its actually alot more like paper tape. people say that it doesnt have the static issue clear tapes have, but is more ridged then other paper tapes. greenstar i have read mixed reviews. i read others prefer r-tape. i plan on using oracal 651 or similar vinyl. my application: vehicle windows and paint surfaces. i will be applying accents to the side of my mazda 2. i will be cutting car club logos also. i need a transfer tape that can sit several months , but still be applied effortlessly, with out pulling up fine detail, or becoming stuck to the vinyl over a few months. i dont need a clear vinyl i just need something that works, and works good. i have a 5 year old vinyl in my file cabinet from AlsaCorp, when i visited their HQ in california. the transfer tape is just fine and so is the vinyl. i want something of that quality!!! -Jessica Hewitt

nope! i didnt have to pay shipping. i called and talked to the guy and he was very helpful. i kindly told him what was going on. about how the end cap broke but i really wanst to concerned with that my main concern was the cutting strip. he says that the dust cover is not to come with a referb unit. he checked the site, and since it says so on the site he'll be sending me a dust cover but they will be editing their website for future sales. i already have the email confirmation and tracking info! i dont mind buying this as a referb to save 60$ that went straight to buying a stand for this unit. knowing that all pieces are replaceable and this unit is easy to dissemble and work on gives me piece of mind. but for it to be equipped with a bad cutting strip is one thing. either way they made right by it and all is well.

yep i replied with more images showing that the damage is across the whole cutting strip unfortunately. i am a very nice person, trust me. im quite upset, dont get me wrong, but text is only text, when i call monday i will have a talk with them about this issue. im sure it will be resolved, but my chances are 50/50 concidering some of the things people have complained about the lack of customer help over the phone with cutters that arrive sub-par. remember im a chick too, we tend to complain a bit more dramatically sometimes, my intent is not to be negative, i am just completely shocked, thats all... end cap being damaged is not really all that big of a deal. im going to use some epoxy in the next few days! its actually nice that the end caps are only held on with 2 screws. i would hate to have to go to repair this thing (after years of use) and have 5-10 screws on either side. the minimalistic design of this cutter , im loving it. quick and easy for the user to fix anything they need to on it.
