doing t shirts do u charge

If you have a tax ID number you can get hats from Otto good hats for good price. Heat press can be had from eBay at a reasonable price. May not have all the bells and whistles but to start out with they will work. Not sure if I can do it but I may be able to do a drop ship to you on hats. I would have to check to see if they do that at Otto. That is if you do not have a tax ID number. If you need help on hats send me email and I will check it out and give you a quote. KeithH

    Troubles Learning Sign Blazer

No expert on Sign Blazer I only use it for cutting. I use CorelDRAW X4 to create vector files. But have also use the free program Inkscape and it work very well especially for the price. Do a search for it here on the board and you will find the link to download it. Not sure how good the help files are because it is a lot like CorelDraw so I have not use help but if help is like the rest of the program should be good. KeithH
  4. Sorry I did not get back sooner but have been trying to drum up new work. I do not know the name of the toy for sure, there are no markings on it any more. it looks like a plastic folder it has a piece of clear Plexiglas between the two sides the angle of the Plexiglas picks up the image from the paper on the left side and you look through it and trace the lines you see. My wife thinks its called a digi draw. Hope that helps KeithH

doing t shirts do u charge

One of the first questions I get asked when trying to get a customer to let me do his/her work is how much are setup fees and art work fees. I always tell them there are no fees even if I have to spend some time on the artwork. Some times that bites me in the back side because it
  6. As for tracing a picture, I use a toy we purchase for the grandson. It has a plastic sheet that the picture reflects on you look through that and trace the picture on the sheet as your looking through the plastic. This works great and is cheep to use. Does not really matter what size the picture is when you scan it in after you turn it into vector art you can make it any size you like. I have even used copier to shrink down the image so I could trace and scan it in. KeithH

    scuba diver

Thanks a lot Rick those are nice I will add them to the selection to show customer. He wants some for car window decals and then he wants a larger front window display for the shop. Several Divers ship wreck and back ground items (fish , coral, etc..). So these will be great additions to that project as well. Again Thanks for the help. Keith H
  10. Here is my shot at it. Not as good as many on board but best I could do without tracing it. KeithH Graphic1.eps Graphic1.eps

    Back window for pickup

Hi all Does any one have a place on the web that may have a mountain seen with elk in it that would work on a full size pickup back window? I have some elk ready for cutting but customer would like a full mountain seen. I have looked on the web but most are pics or JPG

    Back window for pickup

Original customer wants the bottom pic up in Stephanie's reply above. Going to use edge's Mountain back ground with an elk pick I found here on the board for another one. This stuff is fun for me and is catching very fast here. We have a guy that comes around about 4 times a year and sets up a tent in one of the parking lots selling stickers an have been told what you see is what you get from him. Back window for pickup

Thanks for the designs these are more like what I had in mind but this customer is sold on the others. But thanks for the designs these are very nice with more detail than I thought of and will work great. Maybe should have waited to show customer the others they look very intimidating to apply. I really do appreciate all the help from members of this board. KeithH

    Back window for pickup

Those are very Cool!! Thank you stephanie for those. They are not what I had in mind but are now. I sent JPG to customer through email and had a phone call from him within 5 min. Now just hope I can get it applied. I have never done anything even close to this before just getting started with vinyl. May have to buy one for myself and practice on my truck. Thanks again this board is great just hope I can learn enough to help some one else and as has been said pay forward. Keith H

    Advice Please

I have a 2 color logo that is a simple oval with writing in it. My question is when making the vector file which is better practice? To layer the writing over the top of the oval, or to cut out the space for the lettering from the oval and then making the text for the spaces remove. This will be on a window and on the outside. I was thinking of cutting out the lettering space from the oval and then making the text slightly larger then the cut out and putting the lettering down and then the oval over the top. Thanks for any advice Keith

    Advice Please

Thanks all for the help. I am going to go to the site and see if it can be seen from the inside. If so I may try to talk them into one on each side. If not then I will just layer it. Thanks Again. KeithH

    Decals

I have a soccer league that wants me to do a vinyl decal from the logo I put on the sweatshirts for them. My question is after cutting and weeding do I just put the tape on the decals with instructions on how to install them? I don

    Decals

Thank you all for the great ideas. Really do appreciate the help One last question is there a time limit on how long the tape should be on the decal before it will be hard to separate? I thought about making up for all sports I can get the numbers the school has on the jerseys and just make them up and have them ready. Again Thanks KeithH

Looking for a point in the right direction

Not sure if you have this done yet but would suggest that you go ahead and take the .jpg and trace it in corelx4 and then make a copy of each section. Make it a bit smaller than the first object to create the line effect you are looking for. Then do a back minus front. This way you will be able to get the see through effect in the areas of the canopy and prop area. Example is after tracing select the whole object and ungroup it. Then select the wing and duplicate it. Then grab the corner nodes and shrink it down so that it will create a line thickness, after doing that go up to tool bar and select back minus front. It will leave a out line of the wing. Do this for all the objects and you will end up with a cut pattern that will give you the see through effect. I will tinker with it some and see what I can do, but that will me later this week. Keith

    colors

I am new to vinyl for signs of any kind, only have used it for T-shirts. Which color will show up the best? The logo will be on a white SUV with medium dark tinted windows. The logo will go on back side windows on both sides. What are good colors to read from a distance on a moving car? What would be best single color or multiple colors? Customer instructions were to make it noticable all words no art work. From what I have seen on forum block type letters seem to be the choice for readability any particular font that is best? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Keith

Does any one have a black panther mascot? Not sure if it would work in vinyl or not. Thanks Keith
  23. Hi all New to vinyl and shirt transfers. I have a job of 24 sweatshirts that have a white logo on left breast, a 2
  24. Thanks for the replies! The sweatshirts are Gildan 9 ounce hoodies. The designs are simple to weed so was thinking of doubling the price of garment and adding shipping cost which would make them about $27 each after completed. That is what I have been doing for my embroidery work and screen printing for easy items. In this case I think what I will do is tell them $30 each and then give them a new customer discount of 10% and see what they say. From the looks of what you said here I should be in the ball park. Screen printing these small qtys is more work than its worth to me thats why I got the vinyl cutter. Is it common to double the cost of the vinyl per unit? Wanted to also say thanks to USCutter I got the 24" pcut unit and was up and running with in 15 min out of box and works great. Had some fun cutting up couple yards of vinyl making stuff for the grand kids for practice. Keith
