  1. Hi, I don't use my Roland GX-24 often and when I went to cut some vinyl I keep getting a "Printer is in an error state" message. Everything is hooked up correctly but I did notice that when I first opened the program, it looked different. I can edit and do everything with the Cut Studio but just can't get it to cut. Uploaded new drivers (just in case) and still no change. Also, are there other cutters out there that can use any artwork created with the Roland Cut Studio? If I need to get another cutter I sure don't want to have to go thru the time making new cutter artwork. Thank you, Fred Melbourne Fl USMC Retired

    Need Advice

Good evening, You can use just about any EPSON printer as long as it uses the DuraBrite inks. These inks are a pigmented ink and will not wash out. However, should you use the DuraBrite inks, on your printer you will have to set the printer setting to: -15 yellow +5 Magenta +5 Cyan Leave the black alone. The reason for doing this is, the heat from your heat press reacts with the ink and if you do not adjust these settings, all of your images will have a yellow/greenish tint on them. Using the above settings will eliminate/reduce this from happening. Myself, I use an Epson C86 and a CX5200. My settings are -11 yellow, +5 Magenta, +5 Cyan and no problems in 3 years. You may have to fine tune your own EPSON printer but I would take a scrap piece of white cloth (clean of course) and experiment to find your correct setting. Oh yeah, 360 degrees F for 15-20 seconds with firm pressure. I use Transjet II heat transfer paper. Never a washout or fading. Hope this helps.

    T-shirts

Good evening, I've always used the Gildan 2000g. It's a 6.1 oz heavyweight and beats Hanes and Jerzees. I pay - by the piece - White $1.82, Ash $2.34. I buy from Broder Brothers here in FL. Fred Melbourne FL

    Vinyl for car license plates?

Good evening, I'm a newbie here and would like to ask if using cut vinyl on car license plates worthwhile? I see the blanks come in different colors and wonder if the vinyl would hold up on the plate blanks. What type/brand vintyl would best be suited? Thanking you in advance. Fred melbourne FL

    Hello from melbourne FL

Good evening, I'm Fred from Melbourne FL. I've been heat transfer printing t-shirts, mousepads, etc... since 1987. some years ago I purchased a Rland PC-12 printer/cutter new but only used it a few times and sold it. I now have a Stika-15 that I've not even tried yet. Have lots of vinyl and magnetic sheeting but not much time to use the cutter. I know very little about cutting vinyl, marketing it, etc... so I hope to learn here. I have a some experience when it comes to heat transfers, and such. Maybe I can help others here sharing what little I know. Thank you and hope to learn a lot and hopefully help others. Fred Melbourne FL
