    having problems

When you are saving an item in Inkscape as an EPS file, be sure you have the item (picture) selected. What i mean by this is have the "dashes" around the picture ... like it was if you move the image. Once it is selected, click "save as..." and remove the extention (such as .jps, .bmp) from the file name and on the right, click the drop down menu for file type and select EPS forat. After you do this, select "save" and the file should be saved as an EPS. At this point it should be able to be opened with Signblazer with no problems. I noticed that when i saved the image but did not have it "selected" ( the dashed lines around it) it would bring up the eroor saying it was a bad file. Hope this helps Mark

    Static Cling

Hey- I have gotten so much good/useful info here on this site that I had to share what i have learned. That is what makes this site one of,if not the best for info. Now as far as how well the cling works.... time will tell. It has made it through a heat cycle and is now in the cold cycle. I will post more later as time goes by but i do know the customer is VERY pleased so far. Save him a few $ already. Mark

    Static Cling

I think he was refering to when you apply the lettering to the cling, you wet it before you apply. This makes it easier to remove the transfer tape from the cling. Once the lettering is applied to the cling, you do not wet it any more. When you want to use the sign, remove the backing paper and stick it to the car/window/whatever. The only time you wet it is when you are putting the lettering onto the cling - not when you put the cling to the object.

    Static Cling

Hey all--- sorry i havn't checked in lately. Been up to my butt in shirt orders! Glad to see others can use this info. Easy way to make some money. I havn't took any pictures of mine- guess I need to. I did not try the wet app but i would think it would be easier to remove the transfer tape. I wan't that hard without it but if it makes it easier, go for it. I think on my next order i will try it. So far we have had below normal temps for this area so far (steady 30s at night, 50s day ) and I am happy to say they are holding up very well. 3 months and little/no degrading of the cling. transfer tape is used to place the vinyl lettering to the static cling. You peel it off to leve the lettering on the cling. The backing paper is removed when the cling is put into use. Mark

    Static Cling

sure... $20.00 each. i bought a 30 foot roll and made 10 3 foot signs. Used 651 in orange, yellow, white and pink (one color only on each sign) and used phrases like "hot deal", "look", "this week's special" and others like you would normally see on used car lots. Customer is very pleased that they can be reused over and over.

    Static Cling

The only thing i noticed was when removing the app tape, it would sometimes create an air pocket in the cling material. What was happening was the cling material was pulling away from the white backing sheet that you remove when you use the cling. So that wasn't a problem, you can just peel back the backing paper and re-apply it. My only issue was that the app tape i used was a high tack and it was a little hard to remove from the clear cling. I prob could have done a wet install and not had as much trouble removing it but didnt want to wait for it to "tack-off". Overall it was an easy job and they have held up well for a couple of months. Now that it is getting colder, we will see. Customer is happy and it is a cost savings to him. The colorful "shoe polish" guy was charging $7 per car and it is not reusable like the cling is.

    Static Cling

I just recently used the Avery clear static cling and Oracal 651 to make removable signs for a car lot. they place them on the windshield of the vehicle and remove them when they want to test drive or change the slogan. It was purchased from Signwarehouse (15" x 30' roll) for $28. I just saw the other day they dropped it to $21 for clearance. It was the clear version and after a month or two it is still looking good. Was going to take a pic of them but customer took delivery before i thought about it.
  8. same here- bought direct. nice people to deal with and to answer the question i had earlier, no - they do not offer anything but ground freight. But i will admit, it arrived in a timely fashion. And I will say that it works as well as everyone else has described. Mark

    got a heat press

I just did my first shirt( forgot to take a pic! ) and i used the GT PolyU thermo film from H & H supply. It is suppose to be the same as Thermoflex but i can not judge since this was my first time using any material like this. They also sell by the yard so you can but as little or as much as you need and offer quanity discounts. http://www.hhsignsupply.com/productcart/pc/viewCategories.asp?idCategory=335

    registration marks

Yes, i know you can do that. I have done it that way in the past with this and other software. The reason for asking is it seems that it is a "added" feature of this software and would like to try it and see how well it works or if i should stick to using the above listed ways of doing it. Also, in one of the pinned threads at the top of the Signblazer section, there is a link to the 6.0.24 update and not sure what it is but something downlaoded from that sight. Now i have not tried it yet-- was just wondering if this update would add this feature to my istall of Signblazer. Thanks for the fast replies. Mark

    registration marks

I got a copy with my Pcut purchase. Been playing around with it and getting alot figured out on my own and also from the help of the learing guide which was also included on the cd. But i have run into a problem. I saw in the guide that you can put registration marks into the sign/graphic to help align after cutting. The guide says it's located under "Draw". I have looked there (and under every other section ) and I do not have a registration marks option. I am using version 6.0.21 and noticed that there is an update download availible to make it 6.0.24. Will this update correct this and add the registration marks feature? Thanks for the help -- this place has a great resource to learn things. Mark
  14. does anyone know if SunIE offers faster shipping than ground freight? and has anyone had any dealings with sreenprintingsupplies.com ? they also offer this press and so have optional shipping but know nothing about them. thanks for the info
