  1. The cable was the problem. I made my own buy following this great post. http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php?/topic/30445-how-to-make-a-variable-length-null-serial-cable/

How to make a variable length null serial cable

Man this is a great post! I was at my wits end trying to figure out why my express card and cable wasn't working (some odd ball null cable apparently). Your diagram is perfect and I can't thank you enough! If anyone is looking for a longer serial cable, just follow double_down's instructions and you can make it as long as you want, just buy the length of cat5 cable you need and the two parts he listed. **sends double_down a digital chocolate chip cookie**
  3. I got a link to update my SCAL from them and my connection is showing up but it still doesn't work. Going to try a different cable.
  4. I did just now. What program is it that only cuts? Maybe I can use SCAL to design and thet program to cut.
  5. Hello! I had been using my 34" SC for about 4 months with a usb cable. As time passed, the occurances of job stoppages and errant cuts became so frequent that I am having to separate a coroplas sign into 3 seperate layers and cut them individually. I read that serial is the way to go. I am now unable to get the unit to work. Here are my specs: MSI A6200 notebook P4 2.13 GHZ 8GB RAM WIN 7 64 bit Sure Cuts a Lot 3 SYBA Serial Port Express Card Sure Cuts a Lot shows that it is sending to cutter but the unit never starts. Maybe SCAL only works with usb? Thanks! P
