basic text pricing
Knobhill replied to haumana's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
I agree with you, Seen this for many years both ways. My own shop rules are the client has to be present and I will not release my original designs until paid for. my 2cts -
I believe it is a driver issue. Same thing happened when I fired up my 630 the first time connected to my work machine. Don't use the HPGL driver. Someone here already posted using the DMPL driver works and that fixed it for me. I know a bit about motors so if your machine is jamming against one side, shut the plotter off immediately and find the fix.

There 'ya go, looks easy doesn't it? You need practice to be able to do this every time.

I purchased two plotters from UScutter and both came with CD's that had the serial number printed on them. It's a step by step process to activate. Do it wrong and it will fail. Understand each step before moving on and it will work.

using new blade holder
Knobhill replied to CoopDawg's topic in Creation PCUT Cutting Plotter Discussion
I find the blade and pen holder to be a pain to install and remove. I have to remove the lock screw and spread the holder with unacceptable force. It will break and I don't want it to happen during a big order. -
Not sure why your loading the vinyl on the left side looking from the front. All plotters start from the right unless your using the wrong driver. If your origin is set correctly, try a different driver. I've seen this in other prog's but not in SignBlazer.

I believe what Terry means by dialed in, is after testing and adjusting computer and plotter settings and finding the combination that works the best. Once you find the settings that work you're dialed in. Settings change with different types and brands of vinyl and need to be adjusted as needed. I'd rather waste a foot of vinyl dialing in settings than waste an entire job.

Got it to work? Glad to here it. What was the fix?

I addition to the others advice Read this. It may help. http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php/topic,1989.0.html

I'd like to hear what your experience was with the latest service pack. I had major issues at first. I have since have installed it with success after cleanup. It comes down to how messed up your computer is when you do the update. You need to clean your machine before uping to SP3. I found this to be the biggest reason for problems. I held back on this post due to attacks by another member on this subject.

FYI, I have major arthritis and typing is a chore.
-
Uh, No. LOL Your argument was irrelevant then as it is now. I'm trying to help, not bash another member as you seem to be obsessed with. I made this post trying to gather information to help those with issues with SP3 hoping you would not start your nonsense again. To think I supported you with the moderators and tried to make peace appears to be a waste of my time. I refuse to lower myself to your level. I suggest keep up your helping here and stop being an AH.

I've been using Kaspersky internet security for years and found it to be the best so far. It also gives the option to make a live CD to boot from and scan using Bart PE. Unfortunately it's not a free AV program. my 2cts

$4.24 yesterday for regular. This is out of hand. We need to collectively pull our heads out of our *sses. I look at the choices for our next leadership and cringe.

I don't see any reason to cut stripes this size unless you have the vinyl with minimal waste. I just order a roll of material the correct width. Less waste and time. My 2cts

There was someone on ebay selling a rig that does the same thing. I have it and it's a one person deal that works. If I find it again I'll post a link.

Squeegee - felt, plastic, wooden????
Knobhill replied to Goodwin's topic in Instructional Contributions
I actually prefer the Teflon squeegees. They seem to glide much better no matter what Ap tape your using. A credit card in not what you should use especially applying wet. You did good getting that vinyl down wet with a credit card. :) -
Are you using Vista 64 bit? I would like to set up my second station with Vista x64 because I'm running Opteron processors with a lot of memory.
-
You actually put in a freezer? LMAO

For my own shop that's in the startup phase I can't say as of yet, but for my first cut it was many years ago, a 32' graphic on a 40' trailer laid down dry, center hinged with a sh*t load of gorilla nipples. I wish I had a picture of it. Hoping to not do that again. LOL

Arlon 2 mil is the best I've used. I'm not understanding what you mean by backing slick and sticker sliding. Please explain what's going on there.

Is there a way to not use a page size in the workspace? I'm used to an open field when designing and find it very annoying to setup a page for vehicle outlines scaled 1:1 and then have to reinvent the page to cut. So far this is the only issue I have with Elements. Or is there an option in Pro?
-
That's what I've been doing so I'll chalk it up to learning to use the new software. and reinvent the wheel again. LOL, Thanx.

Need pricing help on my first coroplast order
Knobhill replied to firemalt's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
That about sums it up. Thanx for the info. :o -
Plugged in my old laptop for some test cuts again today and what a pain it is to get the USB connection to work. Threw away the POS disk from Bridge and tried the Creation cd that came with my Pcut and walla, worked perfectly. The Laptop is being over whelmed by the software but it's good enough for simple testing. I have yet to setup a computer for the second station. Thought I'd let the Bridge owners know how I got mine to work. Roland PNC 1000 driver with all default settings except changing the USB com port to com2.
