Stahls Thermo-Adhesive--What am I doing wrong??

Ok..For anyone wondering, it was our press. Which is strange because it was doing everything else (vinyl, transfers) just fine! So, we bought a new press and this stuff actually works pretty good! Attaching a picture of an actual finished one here! Have had lots of customers interested in it since I put one up on the display, BUT this stuff is not meant to last, especailly if you are putting it through the wash. Anyhow, thanks for all the quick tips and help.

Stahls Thermo-Adhesive--What am I doing wrong??

Yep, tried hot peel and it is too gooey. We can get it pretty good when we do about 330 degrees for 3 seconds, but good is a relative term as there is still some paper sticking, just not as bad. Perhaps I'll give them a call and see what they suggest! If I find anything out, I'll post. Thanks for all the input so far. If anyone has any other suggestions, go for it!

Stahls Thermo-Adhesive--What am I doing wrong??

We are cutting the adheasive side, weeding away the excess and leaving the paper backing on. Pressing it onto the shirt and then the paper should peel away, but it is sticking. I think we are doing it right, because once we sit there and pick all the paper off by hand and press the gold foil, it looks GREAT! It just seems like the paper backing should peel away easily. Seems like no one has used this stuff and now, maybe, I know why
  4. Hey everyone! So, trying to make some shirts with gold foil. Using http://www.stahls.com/thermo-adhesive from Stahls. Doing 350 degrees, medium pressure for 3 seconds and then peeling it cold. If you can see my picture, the backing is sticking badly to the adheasive. Something I'm missing? Or any tips from someone who has used this before? Any input is welcomed!

My cutter started cutting strange, any ideas why?

Thanks for the replies. My cutter is on a stand and is a uscutter laserpoint 24". The cutting strip really isn't too bad, I guess there are a few parts that are pretty deep. Maybe I should try replacing that?
  7. Hey everyone. Wasn't sure how to ask this, but my cutter has started cutting strange the last few days. If I am cutting out a 1 color vinyl for an 18x24 sign, it will mess up just 1 letter. The rest will look perfect. This is getting irritating as I will then have to go back and cut that one letter and whatnot. It is not always in the same spot either. Any ideas on why?? I've changed the blade, so I know that is not it. Attaching a picture! If you look at the C, it is not cut properly, but everything else is!

Canon w8400....What can it print on?

Thanks for taking the time to respond! New to the large format printers, so wasn't really sure what I should try. I'll do some more searching and maybe call a local supplier. Thanks again for the helpful info!

Canon w8400....What can it print on?

Hey everyone! I just bought a Canon w8400 printer. Bought it to print out posters, but wasn't sure what else it was capable of. I tried goggling it, but couldn't really find any answers. Anyone know if it can print on banner or vinyl material of any kind? Thanks in advance, like I said, I tried researching it on my own, but couldn't seem to find the answers.!
  10. Thanks for replying. I think I was making pricing this too difficult
  11. Hi everyone! I usually stick to the most common sizes for signs and magnets but have a customer wanting a custom size magnet. He is wanting it to be 14 inches tall x 7.5 feet long. Simple red text to go on it. I have no idea what to charge on this. Anyone have any opinions? Thanks!!

    Importing from Illustrator to Signblazer

Ohh...Ok, that makes sense. Thanks for the help!!
  13. I generally stick to simple things and usually just create in Signblazer. I've started trying Illustrator and am really enjoying it! A problem I seem to be having is copying from Illustrator to Signblazer. Usually I just copy and paste and everything is fine. On my latest job, I have some outlined text. Red text with a black outline. When I copy/paste into Signblazer, it is just copying the red text, not the black outline. What am I doing wrong?? Any input would be greatly appreciated--Thanks!!
  14. I've got a printing business and have started to ad simple vinyl (coroplast road signs and lettering) to my list of things I can do. I'm still no professional and know my limits! I've got samples up in my store which usually get me a handfull of questions each day. It seems as though I can't get my customers to understand what vinyl really is. They will give me a full blown color logo and want me to cut it. I try to explain vectoring, but find myself becoming very long winded and just get blank stares in return. Also, when cutting the stuff I can, I find people just telling me to cut it "about the size of a poster board" and I try to explain that I need exact dimensions and again, blank stares. Anyone else have these problems and if so, have an easy way of explaining it to customers so they can understand?
