  1. Ok, I'm back. After several projects cut without a problem I've started to get the "line of death" - cutter suddenly seizes up, cuts to the edge of my roll and then starts spooling all the way out while still cutting. I thought it might be static, so I put the cutter on a cardboard mat, but that didn't make a difference. I've got a copam 2500, intel mac, latest version of sign cut and keyspan adapter. everything was working perfectly - until now! Thanks for the help. :help:

    new problem with copcam2500

I just thought I'd check back in with all forum readers and let you know that all of my problems were solved when I downloaded the latest version of signcut. I did a dozen cuts this weekend and it works perfectly. Thanks again for the excellent customer service. I would certainly recommend both the copam plotter and the signcut software to others. My only recommendation would be to improve on the documentation that comes with the plotter - set up takes a bit of work and the directions could use more detailed schematics. I'll try to check in on the board occasionally and assist other mac users. All the best,

    new problem with copcam2500

I'm still having problems getting my plotter to work. Having reread some recent posts, I tried saving my illustrator file as an older version (Illus 10) eps to the import folder of signcut, however, when I open signcut and attempt to import it instantly crashes. For the record I'm running illustrator cs2, signcut version 2.17 with keyspan adapter, mac os 10.4.1 on a dual core intel macbook. I can get the example files that came with signcut to cut perfectly, but every file I try to cut ends up crashing the plotter. I've made sure there are no hidden layers or guidelines, so I am not sure what is causing this problem. Please advise! I've attached the file that causes my signcut to crash - type.eps. type.eps type.eps

    new problem with copcam2500

I tried exporting rather than send to and I still get the same problems - the plotter seizes up, cuts a diagonal line across the entire image and then cuts through the entire roll. I noticed this does not happen with the sample files included with signcut, so I assume it is a problem with the way I am saving/opening illustrator files. Any further advice?

    new problem with copcam2500

Hi Ken, Thanks for the quick reply. I'm using Illustrator CS2 and the send to signcut option. Saving as an illustrator file (signcut doesn't seem to want to open eps files).
  6. well, I'm back again! after the initial excitement of being able to make a few cuts, I realized that my plotter was seizing up in the middle of jobs. It will either stop all together, or cut a diagonal line all the way across the image and then cut through the entire roll of vinyl (very costly)! I've got a 2ghz macbook, a keyspan adapter and a copcam 25000. My settings were listed in the previous post. I tried lowering the baud rate in signcut to 4600, but when I do the cutter doesn't work at all. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

    problem with cp2500- please help!

Holla, Ignore my last post folks - I just changed the cutter settings and I got it to work. Yay! It appears that all I had to do was to check the RTS CTS DTR DSR boxes underneath the blade offset. I have no idea what these boxes mean - does anyone know? I just wanted to thank you for the quick reply to my last post - surely a sign of excellent customer service. The cutter works perfectly with my 2ghz core duo mac book and the keyspan adapter. this is an excellent product and I'll recommend it to others.

    problem with cp2500- please help!

Hi Guys, Thank you for your quick response. My settings under Cutter are as follows: Manufactuer: Copam. Cutter: CP-2500 Device: /dev/cu.KeySerial1 Baud:4800 P arity: NON Databits: 8 Stopbits: 1 Handshake: (RTS/CTS) Blade Offset: 0 other device choices include: /dev/cu.USA19H1d1P1.1 /dev/cu.Bluetooth-PDA-Sync Write to file Internal USB TCP/IP I've tried all of these and none of them will allow signcut to speak to the printer.
  9. Hi there. I recently purchased a copcam cp2500 and I am not able to get it to work. I have a 2ghz intel core duo macbook running osx 10.4. I purchased the keyspan adapter and installed both the latest edition of signcut, the keyspan software and the FTDIUSBSerialDriver_v2_2_7 from the signcutter site. The cutter will power up, measure and do test cuts from the control panel, but it does not show up in signcut, nor does it appear to receive and cut documents sent from sign cut. I've set the device to cu.keyserial.1 and put the baud rate on 4800, but I don't get anything showing up in the information pane of the cutter settings window. Please, pretty, pretty please can someone help me out!
