vinyl advancing to much at the start

Recommended Posts

Hello, this is the first time this happened,

I set the origin and when I start to cut the vinyl roll will advance about a foot and then start cutting. I just tried switching to landscape mode and it still does it, but the   advance wasn't as much. If there is something on here already my apologies, if not I need help. UScutter SC, just bought it used. THANK YOU

My cutter has always done that.  I have a Graphtec. Most vinyl cutters do not start at the corner to cut, They advance to where the design was originally started to be designed at. What are you doing, just stopping the cutter and starting over?   You shouldn't be.  Example.  I make very large decals,  say 8 ft long, my cutter may travel 4 ft, before it starts cutting, but it comes back to the front of the vinyl and finishes the job  No vinyl is wasted. The cutter completes the entire design. Always have enough vinyl loose to run the eintire order.  Never be pulling from the roll while cutting. Please lose the word PRINT.  There is no ink involved. Pet peeve on here.

Without knowing what software you are using to cut with, my suggestion is to investigate the Settings and locate the button for WYSIWYG and Origin within the software cutter-setup screen.

Don't utilize WYSIWYG. The default choice is Origin.

No, I'm not stopping or pulling the vinyl before it's finished cutting, it finishes and returns to the start position and the cut is over. There is about a foot of unused vinyl from where the cut starts and the beginning of the roll.

The CD that came with the machine is "Sure cuts A Lot Pro 3". If that's not a decent one, what should I look into before I waste a lot of money?  Thanks

Maybe if you post some screen shots of your set up, someone can help you.  Is this all new machine and software.  Or used?  Whether you like the software, is a personal thing.
