Graphtec CE6000-40 Plus Error E04017

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I hope this is in the right place. I recently bought a CE6000-40 Plus, and I'm intending to replace my first cutter Cricut JoyXtra. I need a faster cutter and this one seemed like the best for my needs. I print some stickers for some products I sell and the capacity to do so is getting short compared to what my business needs (about 1500 stickers weekly), so I upgraded to an Epson WF-C5891 and a Graphtec CE6000-40 Plus. The type of stickers I make are cut to the shape of the logo, they have to stay in the letter or A4 sheet, so then an employ can take the sticker out of the page and put it in the product, so I really need to do it in sheets. Now, I'm running on a weird error E04017 that says that the ARMS sensor isn't reading the marks. I've tried everything I've come across with, some "solutions" are these I tried:

  • Placing the sheet over some bigger sheet, so the sensor won't see it as out of boundaries.
  • Giving enough space to the registration marks (about 30mm).
  • Making the area smaller, so the sheet is bigger.
  • I even tried the test page to see if the sensor can detect the registration marks
  • Align so many times the sheet over the sensors
  • Try to position almost perfectly the blade over the starting point that's indicated in the manual
  • 2, 3 and 4 registration marks, type 1 and 2

Nothing seems to work. You can take a look in the videos and photos I'm attaching. No matter what I do, result the same. Seems like the ARMS sensor is either broken or I'm just too dumb to set this right.

I'm getting real desperate, I think I might even hit the support page, but the cutter is used and legacy, so I fear they won't help.
Any ideas of what may be my problem? At some point, the machine also threw E04008. Also, ChatGPT isn't helping much lol

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Edit: I'm on Windows 11 Pro. I'm using Graphtec Studio 2. I've only tried this with the only file I created in Graphtec Studio 2, I only loaded an svg file to have the image contoured and then cut, so I print it through Graphtec Studio 2 and then send the job to the cutter through Graphtec Studio 2. The video I show is the process to test the ARMS sensor and it always lead to that error.

I added more details on the platform I'm working on and the software to send the cut file to the machine.

Welcome to the forum!

Let's try and add a little more detail to this -
What platform are you trying to run the cutter from? (Mac or Windows)
What version of operating system are you on? (Windows 10 or 11, Mac Sonoma, etc.)
What program are you using to send the job to the cutter? (Graphtec Pro Studio or Grapthtec Studio or a plug-in)
Does the cutter work with any other file you're trying to cut, or just when you're trying to set it up for contour cutting?

Thanks! I edited the post, anyway I'm on Windows 11 Pro, I use Grphtec Studio 2, so far I have only created one file and it's not working. I need to use it for contour cuts. The video shows the process to test the ARMS sensor and always lead to that error, same error as when I send a cutting job.

Understood, but since you purchased the machine used, you should check that is functions properly with your setup first.  Have you tried just do a test cut, using regular vinyl - no ARMS, just a simple shape.  It's als good to see that the cutter is cutting to a correct size (ie. a 3" square, actually measures 3" when it's cut).
