Guest midwestmom Posted May 21 When I purchase a file on Etsy to use in a design, the seller always emails it as one file. Rather than 10 separate files, it's one. I'll post an example of hummingbirds. I just need one of the birds, but it is sent as one file with all the birds in it. How do I delete the other birds so that I can use just one bird for my design? Thank you! svg.svg
darcshadow 1,641 Posted May 21 There are a varieties of ways. The most straight forward way would be to node edit the image and delete all the nodes not on the bird you want. I don't remember what exactly VinylMaster calls it, but you can apart the design, then delete all the parts you don't want. Depending on the design you may need to merge the remaining parts back together to get the correct look. This is some pretty basic vector image design stuff. I find the best way for me to learn is to just start playing around with all the tools/buttons in the software to see what they do. Next option would be to google how to do something, There are videos out there on how to do anything these days.
midwestmomm 3 Posted May 21 Thank you for getting back to me. Yes, I have deleted them piece by piece, and I did figure that out by playing around with all the tools/buttons in the software to see what they do. But it takes forever when they're so detailed. I need to be able to separate the file into individual birds so I can delete all but one. Each time I purchase something like this, I let the seller know I need separate files due to this. And they always give me directions on how to do so in Cricut, or they don't even bother to get back to me. I was hoping someone here knew how
midwestmomm 3 Posted May 21 Hello, just checking in again to see if there is a way to separate these birds, as I only want to use one of them. The previous poster mentioned "there are a varieties of ways", does anyone know how to delete all of the birds easily? Thank you!!
MZ SKEETER 4,726 Posted May 21 Well I find it pretty easy to Grab all of the file> UNGROUP> So they are individual files. Grab the files, either 1 at a time or a group of them and DELETE. what you don't want. .I did it in a Vinyl Master cut Demo. You should be able to.
haumana 1,228 Posted May 22 I encourage you to register for this forum. It's free, and your posts will go up righ away. I broke the birds out to separate files, and zipped them up. What kind of software are you using for design or cutting? hummingbirds.zip
slice&dice 2,467 Posted May 22 Well, this one requires a bit of clarification. Ungroup or BreakApart/Split Objects would probably work.
MZ SKEETER 4,726 Posted May 22 It is already a vector file.. Just had to put the file on wireframe.
