Cutting all the way through the vinyl

Recommended Posts

I have a Titan 2. It's only a few weeks old and hasn't been used much. I have all the settings correct (blade depth, speed, force, etc.) but now, after working beautifully, it has started cutting all the way through the vinyl. Thoughts ???

If the blade depth is set correctly, the blade would not be able to cut thru the vinyl.  Too many incorrect instructions out there.  Do not use instructions that have to do with a credit card thickness or post it notes.   Vinyl is only 2-3 mil thick you only cut with the very tip of the blade.

To start with, you should set your blade depth correctly, by taking the blade holder out of the machine, and firmly cut across a piece of scrap vinyl, you will be cutting. You should only be cutting the vinyl and barely a mark on wax paper backing, Adjust blade to get there, Then put the blade holder back in machine, and use the force of the machine to get there, same results, only cutting the vinyl and barely a mark in wax paper backing. You should barely see and feel the blade out of the blade holder

Thanks MZ SKEETER. The only thing that was really throwing me was that it was cutting just fine and then all of a sudden one day it just started cutting through the vinyl without me changing any of the settings.  I appreciate all the help.

If you have been running the blade out too far, and now that it has gone thru the vinyl. You may want to look at your teflon cutting strip for scratches and gouges. They will cause problems in the future.
