Over Size Please Reset!

Recommended Posts

I've been having problems with my Titan 2 cutting since March.  After talking to CraftEdge.com for Sure Cuts A Lot Pro 5, they suggested I get in touch with US Cutter.  US Cutter has logged into my computer and after a couple trial and errors, suggested I purchase a new Mother Board, which I did.  I had our IT guy at work install it this morning and now I'm getting the error "Over Size Please Reset!"  It's literally 3 words with an arrow that is 3" tall and 4" wide.

Can someone please advise what I should be doing to correct the error?  I've recreated the design, closed and restarted computer, etc.

Thanks so much!

Randi

Go back to the source of your troubleshooting -- USCutter tech support.

That is not a 'production file' error and possibly related to incompatibility of the motherboard? my best guess.

Or, if you get lucky, the directions Skeeter offered will work!

I like the solution Skeetz offered below-- might even succeed!

I did not write this.  I saved it from another user who had this problem.  Maybe it will help.  We saw this come up several times for a while.

Guess this is for VINYL MASTER,    "Fixed problem after 2 hours with tec support and they could not fix so they sent ticket to Australia and said it would be 2-3 days but for some reason 3 hours later they emailed me

Can you please go into the Vinyl Spooler, and from the "Settings" menu, ensure that "Force Position" is NOT selected.

If it wasn't, go to the connection tab in the vinyl spooler and temporarily change the Port method to "Windows Port" and select "File".

Select the file that had the problem and click "Cut now". Instead of sending the data to the cutter, it will prompt you to save a PLT file. Email this PLT file to tbtech@iifuture.com and we will check the cutting data that would be sent to the machine to rule out any software settings for you.

But the force position was checked so I unchecked it and tried it and guess what it worked just fine. It didn't even occur to them that it might be checked. So I am a happy camper now. Thanks to all that tried to help me.

Go into the Vinyl Spooler, and from the "Settings" menu, ensure that "Force Position" is NOT selected.

Also make sure that the vinyl is only about 1 inch from the far right side of the vinyl cutter. "

I am using a TItan 24" working space plotter, MacBook Pro and SCAL5 Pro or SCAL6 Pro. Since "upgrading" to 6 Pro, I've come across a couple issues.

1- "Over Size Please Reset" error even though I know the dimensions do not exceed my working space. I have checked the files that I am working on to be sure some little dot isn't outside the working space, or some other missed part. This error only happens when I cut/print from "Origin Point". Work around for now is "WYSIWYG". This error happens in SCAL5 Pro and SCAL6 Pro.

2- Software crashes when I use the tile function on files that are too wide to cut/draw in a single run. Narrowed it down to crashing when I preview how the design will be laid out on the substrate used in the plotter and I scroll to see all of the design. Unfortunately you cannot view 10'+ without using the scroll function. So, I am back to manually splicing designs down and not utilizing the fancy "Tile" function. MacOS is the issue and a solution is being worked on... This issue happens in both SCAL5 Pro and SCAL6 Pro.

I have reset the motherboard, double checked all my settings and  burned up some vinyl, pens and paper trying to figure this out.

I have also reached out to other folks for help that are familiar with my program, OS and plotter, read forums, reset and reboot Mac and plotter. I do not have a "Force Position" option that I can find to try the solution mentioned by MZ SKEETER. Plan on calling Tech Support, but was hoping to find the solution on my own first. Maybe coincidence that this happened when I upgraded software? Motherboard bad? It happens in SCAL5 Pro and SCAL6 Pro. Really has me thinking hardware issue and not software issue. I am also not new to using plotter type software, plotters, and the likes. Been doing this for quite some time, just stumped.

I had tried every solution I could locate in forums and searching online. I usually butt my vinyl up against the right side because I deal with such large projects and have to cut the design down anyway. Have checked to be sure vinyl wasn't on the underside of the carriage anywhere, cleaned off the lens on the laser, reset the motherboard numerous times. Will read the post you linked and try to figure out where these settings are on my plotter to see if "Force Position" is selected.

Thanks for your help!

After reading that link you posted, I have already done those things and the message error still occurs. I do vinyl for signs that are sometimes 5'+ and therefore have to cut the files down to a workable size for my plotter. I rarely cut/draw anything over 23" just so I know the plotter will do what I need without issues.

Not sure what the top levels are, but I do not have that option anywhere in my settings. I just submitted a ticket to tech support, don't know who VM is either. Thanks again!

If we cannot seem to help you here, another place to try is the Sure Cuts a Lot Facebook page.  Hopefully someone there might be able to assist you.  There are only a handful of users here that run their cutters with a Mac, and the ones that I know who do, all have Graphtec machines and use their software.

If you come across the fix, would you mind coming back and updating us?

Sorry, I think i have read too much,  today.  I am still thinking about Vinyl Master, I forgot about SCALP, you are using. Have you reset the vinyl cutter with the reset button?  Found this.

To reset a Titan vinyl cutter for an oversized job, you can use the reset button to cancel processes, or turn off the cutter, shut down the software, and then turn the cutter back on.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

1. Understanding the Reset Button:
  • The reset button on the Titan vinyl cutter allows you to cancel ongoing processes, which can be helpful if a job is obviously too large or if the cutter is stuck.
  • It can also reset the cutter to its default settings, including baud rate (9600), clearing the memory, and setting the origin of the carriage arm to its rightmost position.

2. How to Reset for an Oversized Job:
  • If you're in the middle of a job: Press the reset button to cancel the current process.

  • If the cutter is stuck or unresponsive:
    • Power Cycle: Turn off the Titan vinyl cutter, then shut down the software sending the cut data, or restart the computer.

    • Turn Back On: Once the software is shut down, turn the cutter back on

I will for sure post back with the solution. Nothing worse than finding posts about someone with similar issues, members giving lots of suggestions and the person not reporting back on what fixed their issue.

I am in some Facebook groups for SCAL and Mac users.
