Primal Decals

color fade issue

Recommended Posts

So out of all my colors i use from oracal. Yellow is the worst to get,It fades in 3 months and becomes worthless junk i did a  logo for my own vehicle and it didnt last  at all.No other color i have used has done this and just sucks lol.I have several people who want yellow but i really dont want to sell it due to how fast it fades. And i live in far northern cali , 1 1/2 hours from oregon near the mountains. It does get hot here but really? not happy.

it was 651. no just basic 021 yellow. none of my other light colors have done this.. for example, light pinks, ice blue, . just the yellow.

I contacted us-cutter yesterday and they told me that its normal where i live, i completely disagreed with him. He said anywhere like Arizona and Texas etc it will last only a few months,And i said i don't live in those scorching areas. He told me that if i wouldn't have used it that i could return it for a refund or exchange lol... I said how am i supposed to know how the product works if i don't use it LMAO. I think there is a issue with this answer given to me..So right now I'm not happy ,since i have a partial 10 yard roll or whats left i don't want to use and cant sell...

Good luck with getting oracal to do anything. They won't return my calls or emails regarding their HT55 application tape.

I have talked to them before. I always talk to Tim Wright who is the product support for them.. He has always helped me out thru email and phone help and even took the time to go test material for me ,He is a great guy. So i will see what he says good or bad. I dont contact anyone but him,,, and he has never told me to contact anyone else either.... http://www.orafol.com/gp/americas/en/product-support-specialists

I have had issues with certain rolls fading out of a lot of 11 651 rolls i bought at the same time. It only happened with the least popular colors, so it makes you wonder how long USCutter was sitting on these rolls before they were shipped to customers. Do they have a return policy with Oracal if unused rolls do not sell, or do they just eat the cost. Most likely they eat the cost, so they are probably hard-pressed to just throw the vinyl out. They probably figure it is easier, and cheaper, to just replace problematic rolls when customers complain.

Supply chain for them has gotta be tough, balancing what to carry on hand in anticipation of what will sell in order to keep customers happy with ship times. Have to try and guess right when ordering such large quantities to get their discounted pricing.

I have a roll of that yellow that I bought 7 years ago and it still looks like the day I got it - haven't had any complaints so I don't think it is how long they sit on it but if anything a bad batch from oracal.   I still use from that roll for some of my "event" coroplast signs and have United way I think has some they still use year to year from that same roll.

I tried contacting Tim Wright using the oracal website and never heard from him so I called and they said he was on vacation during that time. I was transfered to his boss and left a message to call me back and he never bothered. I also never received a reply to the email to Tim Wright. Oh well.

I do a lot of yellow decals here for business that are used as windshield banners and seen some a couple years old/installed and look fine, cant even tell if they faded at all. And Im in GA. Both Brimstone and regular yellow on 651.
