Dwild 3 Posted November 27, 2015 I just caught wind that I may be getting a 500 shirt order for a local business. I can't outsource locally because there are no local screen printers. With that said how could I find a local screen printer and what kind of ball park price should i figure. I am just a 1 man vinyl operation I've never had possibly 1000 shirts to do, any guidance will be highly appreciated!

Dwild 3 Posted November 28, 2015 I wish I knew lol. I was just told hey in a few months I am going to have more shirts made for my business. There will be roughly 500-1000 that I will need. That's pretty much what I got told I wont get to start until around February. I may do plastisol transfers, I thought about it but I didn't know if it would be more expensive or cheaper to just get them screen printed.

You'll get a bigger payout if you price it right.
Sue2 920 Posted November 28, 2015 Is this definitely YOUR order or will they be shopping? In the mean time try to find out just WHAT & WHERE you are imprinting.... one side, 2 sides, one color, multi colors, full color... and what color/quality of shirt do they expect. You can play secret shopper and find out what the going price is locally. This should get you an idea of what your price should be. Check out the big online suppliers also as they too will be your competition. Remember the Boy Scout moto...Be Prepared. Sue2

djque 246 Posted November 29, 2015 I also screen print to but I would make sure they don't think your doing vinyl and know it will be silkscreen. they might not like silkscreen so I would find that out asap.also find out color of shirts and color of design cause if its going on a white tshirt you wont need a underbase but if its a dark color and say 4 color your going to need a underbase so a total of 5 screens.
Dwild 3 Posted November 29, 2015 Thanks for all the input! They get their shirts locally from a vinyl shop that outsources to get them screen printed. They are upset with the quality from the last batch they got because the lettering and logo almost came off the short within a few washes. They paid like 8.00 a shirt for 1000 the last order. Maybe where they sent it out they didn't have a conveyor or didn't know how to cure there ink's not sure many different things could of happened!
Sue2 920 Posted November 29, 2015 I looked at one of the big online custom t-shirt mfg. Straight out estimate for 1000 white Gildan shirts one color, one side is $4 to $4.50 Perhaps the other shop used this type source....or similar. Intimidating price to face initially. Have your proposal ready with the REASONS why you will be higher & better. Remember, if you mark-up your shirts just 50 cents... that will give you $500 over cost....not bad for "Shepherding" the order to the proper manufacturer. rdrgrafix2 30 Posted January 4, 2016 I would send them to another member on here and have them print them. You can still mark them up and make a profit even with shipping. There is many of us that print and love to team up with other members on jobs. Keeps some coin in everyones pocket and also makes it where everyones shops can offer more products and profit more

Most are at $3.69 and $2.99 a shirt on a 1k order. At $3.69 you make $2190 or at $2.99 u pocket $1490 but that's straight thru the printer and no middle person, I just quote a order of 5000 kids tees and transfers to press only for $.
