Shirt & Decal Pricing for Charity...

Recommended Posts

I was approached by a large motorcycle event and was asked to quote them on 1000 shirts and decals. They mentioned their previous contract printer gave them a great price as the items are for charity. What is everyone's policies on this type of partnership?

1000x  Digitally printed decals - 5"w x 6"h

1000x  Color Full back shirt - ~ 13"w x 20"h

Question? If their previous printer was so great why are they shopping around? I don't discount for charities but I'm already pretty low to begin with.

Unless you plan on being a non-profit, price them accordingly. Granted I would include a considerable discount for the quantity involved, but I'm not working for free either.

This is a never ending cycle.....if you get regular business from them during the year,

then it is wise to offer a discount now and then. A percentage of their total yearly

purchase perhaps.

Check out the online vendor prices....they don't give a charity discount to ANYONE!

You can discount & donate yourself out of business.

Almost did that which is why I very rarely discount except for large qty. jobs.

Well, 1000 shirts is a lot...but take into consideration the sheer

TIME (labor) involved....what is your time worth?

Remember, every discount is coming straight out of your

pocket (profits)...all the BASIC COSTS for the job remain the same

no matter what you charge.

All good points, i'm going to politely probe about why the previous printer is not in picture, maybe they are just trying to price gouge them and get a lower rate but ill make sure the indicated price is due to Quantity and Charity. Now if they are going to announce my business at all the events and what not... maybe that's a trade off ill consider for a bit over cost. I believe they are reselling the items and not just including it in a registration package so they are looking for a margin of their own.
