stitchesandsigns 0 Posted January 13, 2013 I'm trying to make 70 decals for the fire dept. using oralite reflective. The first graphic was too detailed and too hard to weed - The second is too simple and won't weed. The Gretna & Fire & Rescue have no borders - the ladder has no borders... ANY help would be appreciated!!!!!!!! Thanks in advance!!!! GRETNA FIRE & RESCUE.pdf
slice&dice 2,450 Posted January 13, 2013 Perhaps the fire department can provide you with their original artwork vector .eps ? How did you end up with this project anyway? Did you Volunteer?
stitchesandsigns 0 Posted January 13, 2013 The department wants these for all of the members back windows - I'm a firefighter/paramedic and I was asked to do this because I have a vinyl machine.

slice&dice 2,450 Posted January 14, 2013 Recently a client had me do decals like this for a local Engine Co. I eliminated the fire hydrant & ladder/hook graphics, as they seemed to be a weeding job I wan't interested in pursuing (especially on the small size of a 5" decal) Instead of those items, I just placed the words "EMT" (vertically, in the left side portion) "FIRE" (on the right side) and "RESCUE" along the bottom, with the city name at the top & the Engine Co. # in the center. I used a version that didn't have the 'banners' which also kept the weeding to a minimum.
stitchesandsigns 0 Posted January 14, 2013 It's amazing how much time a "free" job cost. I like the idea of the shield you have. Where do I get it?
slice&dice 2,450 Posted January 14, 2013 The shield is called a Maltese Cross. http://www.bayitlive.com/eBay/stickers/69/25.jpg Do you know how to do a vector conversion from a raster graphic?
slice&dice 2,450 Posted January 14, 2013 OK, just be aware that there have been tons of threads and tutorials on these forums discussing the process of creating a cuttable vector using a raster graphic (such as you see in my post above). Signblazer has that capability, as does SCALpro. Let's start by asking what vinyl machine are you using and what cutting program you have? --- maltese cross.SBD
