eliminator 0 Posted January 1, 2011 If I want to interior mount a decal on a picture window, readable from the outside, can I just mirror the image and apply? Thanks Paul
Dakotagrafx 7,298 Posted January 1, 2011 Yup but definitely not recommended from Oracal as the adhesive is not uv resistant like the vinyl
Rodger 527 Posted January 1, 2011 I understand the recomendation , but I did a couple of my back truck windows with Oracal 651 white 3 years ago & they are just as new . A vehicle has a random amount of sunlight depending how parked . Unless on a store front with sunlight every day , I would thiknk you would be good to go . If it is inside I'm sure it would last . screenprintr 319 Posted January 1, 2011 If it's in the back car window be careful. If you decide to take it off you might take off the rear defroster.
Rodger 527 Posted January 1, 2011 OP is talking about a picture window . I installed it on big trucks which don't have any rear window defroster . I agree & would not put a decal over 1 of those .
screenprintr 319 Posted January 1, 2011 Roger, did you put straight Vinyl or did you leave the App tape as a transparent decal?
Rodger 527 Posted January 1, 2011 I did a regular install on the inside with a mirrored decal . I used Flash ( Paris ) font so there is plenty of vinyl edge ( no peeling at now as of now ) . I don't understand what you mean by leaving the App tape as a transparent decal
screenprintr 319 Posted January 1, 2011 Just sent a Private Message. Also, they want a decal to apply on a car window. Basically people expect decals with a background. Instead of a Background like white or black with colored lettering, they want Clear Background. So, are you saying make the Decal Mirrored, apply the App Tape, and don't peel off the App Tape right? Rodger 527 Posted January 1, 2011 You have lost me ... All I am saying is I made decals that were mirrored & applied them to the inside of my trucks . No background , no application tape left on . I am thinking you had a very good night last night ? ( I ahve read my posts a couple times & don't follow your train of thought , I'll go read the pm & maybe understand then . deth502 39 Posted January 1, 2011 i think im following you, and i have never seen that done before. my first thought would be that waht they want is a printed decal, but that would not be viewable from the underside
screenprintr 319 Posted January 4, 2011 Roger answered my question in a Private Message. Basically, he's saying, use clear vinyl or cling to attach your colored vinyl too. It's a layered vinyl.
Rodger 527 Posted January 4, 2011 I was answering " Yes " to the original post . Just mirror the decal & install on the backside of the glass . There is a recomendation about not doing it that way if sunlight/UV rays are a factor ( messes with the adhesive side ) . I have done it that way 3 years ago on my back truck window & the decal is still perfect .
screenprintr 319 Posted January 5, 2011 Have some Cling on order. Should be here within a day or two. I can practice with my logo and put it on the inside back window. I'll also start playing with Clear Vinyl and do the same on my wife's car. Lol.
