firemalt 10 Posted February 1, 2009 kinda late getting in on this thread... but here's what we put together with some stuff from Ikea .
Benr98 40 Posted February 1, 2009 Some really nice setups...........mine is spread throughout the house~ I plan on having just one room for all the business stuff.......but right now there is not enough room. Half of our bedroom is office (computers and cutter), family room holds my banner material and 9' work table...and the heat press moves to the kitchen as it's the only plug we can use that doesn't blow all the fuses in the house! Ursine 0 Posted February 1, 2009 Nice homemade NC router! What are you using for the controller and software? I use Mach 3 to control the machine and Rhino 3D and Vcarve Pro for design. Pretty accurate for a machine made of plywood, iron gas pipe and rollerblade bearings. Dave
SandyM114 0 Posted February 1, 2009 That first pic that started this thread had a very nice weeding desk. Have to think about that one....
midwaste 4 Posted February 1, 2009 Wow, firemalt, your vinyl rack is IDENTICAL to the one I built. I'll post some pics in a bit. Ursine, what hardware controller are you using to connect the servos to the pc?
midwaste 4 Posted February 1, 2009 Here is my lair.. I will confess, I did just clean it, so it is much neater than usual. You can see the 50" roll of white 651 that I will probably never have a use for, until I sell it or cut it down to 24". Also, in the garage is my IR panel I just got for my to-be-completed conveyor dryer.
firemalt 10 Posted February 1, 2009 Wow, firemalt, your vinyl rack is IDENTICAL to the one I built. A piece of plywood, 16' round piece cut down, and some wheels. Under $40, and it'll hold about a total of 25 rolls of vinyl. Even with 24" rolls on there, it fits perfectly under my work space.
midwaste 4 Posted February 1, 2009 Yours is a bit nicer than mine, I used PVC (stupidly) for the tubes and its not the most sturdy contraption ever.. How do you keep the dowels from falling through the holes?
firemalt 10 Posted February 1, 2009 wood glue and toe-in some brad nails.
Jay2703 704 Posted February 1, 2009 Here's my little knot hole right after painting. It is not usually this clean.
BannerJohn 1,324 Posted February 1, 2009 Yours is a bit nicer than mine, I used PVC (stupidly) for the tubes and its not the most sturdy contraption ever.. How do you keep the dowels from falling through the holes? Here's a cabinet maker's trick that is 100's of years old. Cut a slot in the dowel the depth of the plywood. Once you put the dowel in with glue, drive a wedge into the slot to spread the dowel apart. Wooden hammer handles are done this way but with metal wedges. dustinjtrr 0 Posted February 2, 2009 aries58... just set your vinyl roll on top of the 2 rollers. You know that was the first thing I thought, but with that setup I could have my black and white on the rollers, which is what I use most often. Then if I need another color I could sit it on top of the black and white. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... pics tomorrow.

Black and white on the rollers and whatever else I use just gets set on top of the black and white rolls.

Benr98 40 Posted February 2, 2009 Aries, you aren't alone...lol. My cutter and computers for it, are in the bedroom......it's hard to wake up and not want to cut something! I keep all my extra rolls of vinyl up in the closet shelf...keeps them clean and out of the way.......especially with dogs running through the house!
