Anybody want to share was has and hasn't worked for them? I haven't done much advertising because I'm not 100% sure where to spend the money on in order to get the best return on investment. Last year I did some mail adverts to local real estate agents trying to sell them gift certificates for my wall decals at a discount. I was thinking they could give them out when they sell a home instead of a gift basket or flowers. I sent each real estate office a priority mail envelope with separate envelopes inside for each real estate agent. Each agent received a small wall decal and a letter explaining what we do, why new home owners want wall decals, and how to contact me. Out of around 12 offices and 80 agents I didn't hear one peep from anyone. I thought this was an awesome idea and it was going to generate lots of sales, but it turned out to be a waste of time. I've been pondering the idea lately of either doing an insert in the newspaper or doing some USPS direct to door mailings.

Question on shipping smaller decals
pshawny replied to Vitaman's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Yeah. The value of time and of money can change depending on several factors over one's lifetime. A $30,000+ a year job in your 20's isn't as appealing in your 30's, so on and so forth. Life is expensive. I want my next K-1 to have six figures, not five. -
I find that they leave a residue. Nothing that a little rubbing alcohol doesn't take care of though.

$2 x 125 does equal $250. Let's take that $250 - Ebay Fees - Paypal Fees - Postage - Material Costs. I'd estimate that you'll clear $100. If that takes you 8 hours, then that is $12.50 per hour. $12.50 per hour x 40 hours per week = $500 per week $500 x 50 weeks a year = $25,000 per year $25,000 - 30% self-employment tax = $17,500 per year If you can do 125 in less than 8 hours, which you should, or you can scale the business, then it might get interesting. Hire some part-time helpers and grow the business. I personally don't see how anyone can have tens of thousand of decal designs without breaking all kinds of trademark and copyright laws. -

I've been through Bentonville a couple of times visiting family that lives in near Rogers.

Oracal recommends their HT-55 app tape for use with 8510

Here is one that does it, but I'm sure the price tag is very high.

Choose the CoPam CP-2500. Works for me.

I think what they are trying to say is that you cannot resell the clipart. The wording is a little vauge. You should be fine making and selling decals. If not, i don't see why SW would bundle the clipart with a cutter.

On the left hand side of the cut screen you will see some options. You can set the number of copies, spacing between copies, weed boxes, etc.

Both the 631 and the GreenStar wall vinyl will remove cleanly without damage or leaving adhesive residue. Everything assumes properly applied paint, etc. They typically state 2 years clean removal, but I don't see a problem with a longer installation. As long as the base layer is 631, then you could put 651 or anything else on top of it.

The 16x20 air operated GeoKnight is threadable. I'm not sure about the manual 16x20.

Sounds like you are referring to weeding boxes. On the cut screen, right before you hit cut, you will see some cutting options to the left side of the screen. Uncheck everything that says "Weed". Weed All is usually selected by default. Play around with them to see what each one does. They do come in very handy.

Like Mz. Skeeter said, without proof of delivery you will run into tons of scammers on Ebay. Let the Chinese have the pennies. Go after the dollars! -
Siser EasyWeed lists leather as being a suitable application surface. Never tired it on leather myself.

The link Slice posted above worked for me just the other day.

What is your favorite clamshall heat press??
pshawny replied to DowntimeDesign's topic in General discussion
That hurts a little bit when you brush the top of your hand against the heat platen. My first press was a 15"x15" Might Press clamshell. My next one will be an air operated swing away. -
I think they have been getting better over the years. Before, you had to list variations with different prices as separate listings. They have since allowed price variations on one listing. Such as Small, Medium, and Large sizes, then choose a vinyl color. Once you get a listing template dialed in, you can then copy the listing and just change whatever needs changing.

I use to sell on Etsy. Started in 2009 when it was sort of new and quit in 2015 when it got overcrowded. Personally, I feel that the time to start a online vinyl decal business has come and gone. Too many "crafters" that can sell right next to you and they either don't know or don't care if they are making a profit. That's not to say someone can't find a niche and make a decent living from vinyl decals, t-shirts, etc. Anything is possible if you're willing to put in the hard work. If you create hundreds of designs and list across multiple sales platforms you might be able to make a go of it. Etsy Sales: 2009: $3,504 (Started in June) 2010: $9,399 2011: $16,599 2012: $20,762 2013: $14,141 2014: $11,172 2015: $5,171 (Quit in September)

Looks good! Try a couple more washes to make sure everything is dialed in good. I think you'll have lots of business making transfers for the forum community.

It's a screen exposure unit.

Try the Oracal HT-55 transfer tape. I have used tons of it and it stays down on the backing.

I have an Accucut GrandeMark 2 die cutter that should be able to handle that, but custom dies are needed for each project. So far I've only used it to cut 30mil magnet.
