  1. Like most of you out there and myself I did not want to sink a ton of money into buying a laminator. I wanted to concentrate on Cutter, vinyl, printer, and other business costs and so a $5000 laminator was out of the question. After speaking to a few people on the forums the Big Squeegee kept being brought up. The word out was it was so simple and for the price it would save you thousands. So I bought into and immediately bought one. Receiving this thing I was sort of skeptical about it working or not. So the only way to find out was to test it. First test run, layering vinyl - results - Amazingly smooth and quick, with no bubbles at all. Just use registration marks to line up and push and your done. 2nd attempt - applying app tape - I just used the holder on the BS to hold my app tape roll and just slid the BS across the vinyl and app type went on without a problem. One thing to be sure of when applying app tape. After using the BS to apply, make sure you go back over with a small plastic squeegee making sure the vinyl adheres properly. 3rd attempt - Laminating - Using 3M over-laminate and layered vinyl and digitally printed vinyl. When laminating vinyl that has multiple layers I suggest using Frog Juice because air pockets are created by the stacking of the layers and does not allow the laminate to full adhere. No matter how hard you push the pockets come back. With Digital Vinyl however there couldn't be an easier or more cost effective way to apply the laminate. The Big Squeegee does laminate without a single problem. Just a quick smooth push at a 45* angle and your done. It really can't be much easier. All in all, I would give this item a 4.5 out 5 star rating on my review. Why a 4.5 star you ask? Because I didn't invent this great thing lol

Hey guys need some help identifying this font. Thanks!
  4. You have to watch this video. I've run into this I don't know how many times, and I'll bet you have too. Every customer seems to do it one way or another. Tonight I actually had a client send me part of the money for an xbox wrap. Saying "Here's $35, paypal wouldn't let me add anymore funds because my debit card/credit card expired. I contacted the bank and they are sending out a new one. So I'll just send you the other $10 when it comes, don't wait to send the xbox skin though. My reply, I'm sorry, but unless I receive the full amount, the full skin isn't going out. So I'll just send you the controllers and when the rest of the money comes I'll send the Xbox part of it. I swear, people piss me off. Anyways, here is the video.
  5. This why I hate trying to compete for jobs, or having customers come in saying, well so and so is only charging this. You're hurting yourself in the long run and don't even know it yet. Not to mention hurting everyone in the industry (maybe not hurting "Everyone" but maybe others around you. Charge a fair and reasonable price if anything. If i were to print, cut a 42x3" design and only make $7.40, I would give up and quit. I'm glad you're taking the time to make a calculator but please do yourself a favor, make a profit.

    Di-Noc on my daughters laptop

Di-noc is a great product. I've done a bunch of roof and various car interior piece wraps with it. Holds up great and looks great. Only thing it misses is the glossy resin coating. Other than that, love it. Btw looks great on the laptop.

    New Motocross Jerseys

Business is steady, I haven't really found a use or need for the press yet. But graphics are still rolling in. Also had a street bike wrap I finished. Indoor season is right around the corner and planning on taking the enclosed trailer up and start becoming a paying vendor. Too many bikes and atv's up there to not make money. Not to mention the trailer wraps and other things I offer. Hope everything goes well on your end this year.

    My first layering project.

lol, don't go cheap... Sometimes the little touches is what makes or breaks a design. I'd honestly go back and add them. It wouldn't cost very much at all to add the tiny pieces.

    My first layering project.

But a yellow sun on a white background will not show up as well. Maybe add bits of yellow inside the flames to get a true sense of heat and flame.

  16. So I've been approached to design and make a sign for a hair salon. I have the design finished and now sourcing the material. They have mentioned they would like it to be digitally printed and laminated, so if they would ever want to change it, it would be easier. So my question is....what material to use. I have 3M Controltac IJ380CV and 3M overlam but wasn't sure if this would hold up for say 5 years. Also i'm needing direction on what to use for the backing of the sign. It needs to be be able to be routered to shape. It will be front and back. Should I go with 8' 4x4" treated wood for the post? Or go with a composite material like PVC? The sign will be mounted to the posts so I was thinking wood would be good so that we could bolt the sign to the posts. I'm looking for all recommendations that will result in a clean professional look.

Looking for advice on sign construction

Wow thats a great site. Gonna double check with her and go ahead and order. Will these work with the post and panel kit posts? I like the idea how they just slide in. Wasn't sure if i could just buy the posts and piece this together.

Looking for advice on sign construction

hmm, thanks for the input Banner. I wondered that myself, i figured the paint would just fade super quick. That's why i was thinking PVC might be the best way to go.

Looking for advice on sign construction

I'll have to check those out preston, I was going to go with treated lumber and paint it if I did go with wood. But the PVC sign kit sounds a bit better of an idea. Thanks, i'll look into this.

25 views and not a soul to help? Signs101 it is lol
  21. I don't think a person could ever stop learning in this field of signs/designs. I know graphic design changes with the wind almost so you have to stay on your toes. Different fads come and go. I can remember when I was younger in high school saying, "I will never be a teacher, I don't want to be in school the rest of my life" Well, look what I'm doing now lol But I do love it.

    Create before you ask?

It's called being lazy and want everyone to do work for them. Just like when I have users on here who go behind my back and ask for all my templates so he can profit off them without me knowing.
