    Make-the-Cut software

I installed it on another system a while back without problems. I turned off Avast, and I guess windows blocked it. I will see if i can find a workaround. Thx.

Slice, I tried that file in your link but it keeps getting flagged for a virus, 2 different systems(avast on one, avg on the other) any suggestions?

    Class Action Lawsuit?

from my earlier post you can see I removed the usb hub out of the connection a long time ago. I am connected thru serial/com port.

problem is you bought the chevette used, not new like my plotter. And I'm not trying to do anything other than what it says it can do. I don't think the chevette was listed as doing 200+ mph anywhere. Thanks anyway.

    Class Action Lawsuit?

I did create a support ticket just now. I having been working with plotters and cnc machines for many years so my first instinct is to troubleshoot first. I'm sure the plotter will probably work tomorrow. that's the biggest problem, never knowing when it's going to work. Hard to make money like that. That's what is so strange to me, if it was a bad motherboard, why would it work perfect sometimes? If it was a memory issue, why would it cut 20+ letters before stopping one time but only cut about 13" of a countour cut before stopping the next? It's not like these are huge files.

    Class Action Lawsuit?

I figured the problem i was having in one of my previous posts;about the usb; was because it kept kicking out the usb in the middle of the cut. So I stopped using it. I have both a laptop & desktop that I have tried it on. Seems like the same problems no matter which way I connect. I have even connected thru the parralel printer cable since my old laptop has the port and still had issues. Currently I have installed a serial card into my desktop and have it connected that way. The problems stated earlier are still happening when connected this way. I could understand that the file got interupted and it stopped. But the cuts today would cut a few things, then the head would pick up and move all the way over and hit the red reset button? The origin was set where the head was over an inch away from the reset button. That just doesn't make sense to me.

no mention of it in any of his posts. In fact, if you read his posts, they are a bit confusing. Esp the one about using USB on his laptop. What's confusing john?

    Class Action Lawsuit?

I for one would sign up. I have had nothing but trouble with my mh-871 over the short time I have had it, maybe 6 months. Lately it finishes about every 5th or 6th thing i send to it. It does a good job going out far enough and making a few cuts to waste alot of vinyl but that is about it. I have done everything from run grounding wires to add a serial card to my computer, even tried the dryer sheets trick. In the end, I should have saved my money and bought a decent machine in the first place because now I will have to do that anyway. For those that say you get what you pay for, where's my working machine I paid for?

    Signcut errors

Kimon, I agree. I think it is a communication error. Seems to fix itself after being rebooted. I'm thinking it may have something to do with my usb hub. I have one of those multi-port usb hubs because I only have 2 usb ports on my laptop and I think that may be causing the issue.I am gonna try plugging straight into the laptop and see if that helps. thx.

    Signcut errors

Signcut has been acting wierd lately. I tried cutting some stuff the other day and never could get it to cut so i ended up just exporting an eps file and cutting with signblazer. Tried it today, same thing. Sends the file but nothing cuts. So i checked the plotter setting and somehow it got changed off the usb port. I set it to the usb port and cut a job no problem. changed colors and sent the same file with only 2 copies instead of 4 and it reverted to the wrong port again. But the usb port was not available. So I closed it and corel down. Restarted everything. And now when I hit the signcut button in corel signcut just errors out and won't even open. Any ideas? The error produces a file called "459a_appcompat.txt" that I have saved it this can help any. using corel X4 and usb connection with a MH871 plotter

Illustrator files from signcut are cutting twice

I have run into this issue with illustrator files alot in the past. Like Kimon said, the way illustrator does the fill & outline causes it alot of times. After you trace the image, ungroup or break it apart. click on one of the small holes in the design and see if you can drag it away. or just select the small section and hit delete. that will tell you if you have duplicate lines. What also may be causing the 2 lines is if the trace is doing both the red and white trace. Since they touch each other this would cause a double shape. I haven't used illustrator in a while so i don't know if you can specify to just trace 1 color(red) or not. can you upload the .ai or .eps file that is producing the double cut?

    Cutter head shaking?

yup, tape was removed from the cutter strip. I took the blade holder completely out and it still did it. It's in the track completely. There is no play what so ever in the carriage track. Seems like the motors are fighting each other or something. Also I tried just running the head back and forth across the full width a few times and it goes smooth, no vibration. I checked the file also and it did not have a bunch of nodes or waves in the line in any way. It was created with the circle tool in corel. I use corel X4>signcut>plotter thru usb if that makes any difference.

    Cutter head shaking?

I posted this in the refine support forum but figure i might get some more input here. Just purchased a MH-871 and it is cutting great. A few things that bother me are the amount of noise it makes when cutting and the vibration of the cutter head. Seems to make the most noise when cutting curves almost like the 2 motors are fighting each other. Today I was cutting some 28" circles and i could see the cutter head visibly shaking while making the cut. I thought it might be dragging the blade or something but I made the exact same cut without the blade in it and it vibrated the same. Seems like this will cause problems down the road. Anyone else have this issue or is just normal with these machines?
  14. I checked. It's on the tracks. I'm gonna try posting it in the general section and see if anyone knows. thx.
  15. also you don't have to lift up the pinch rollers to cut the paper. just hit the offline button and the down arrow and advance the paper to cut off. then up arrow to get back to starting point and hit the origin button.
