  1. We had an mh - if you think its hard to get the vinyl straight you will hate the mh - keep the graphtec we have 2 now and love them There is inkscape and there is a plug in for inkscape you can use to cut with I believe it should work with the graphtec we don't have windows so we can't test it but I am thinking of setting up a computer with win to try it out
  2. If you also happen to ise inkscape and if its one color you can resize it as a larger image and save it as a jpeg or png and then open it again in inkscape and revector it it will be fine then - If not (I've been away from adobe a while) can you ungroup it multiple times the layers could be very deep I have had to ungroup it 7 or more times - Or just a thought inkscape has cut to path that will take the image and all layers are combined into one - sorta but basically that's how it works
  3. Lol its ok I'm thick skinned I don't mean to piss anyone off. If ya want feel free to pm me your opinion I will listen and if I'm out of line with my post either I will reply with my argument or I will agree with ya Yes the FAQ was copy paste
  4. as it is stated in there FAQ it doesnt have to be applied for - but if he chooses to make it public domain or open source then everyone can use it - that was just an example of a design that everyone knows but i thought a bumb made that in the 60s with some help from forest gump When is my work protected? Your work is under copyright protection the moment it is created and fixed in a tangible form that it is perceptible either directly or with the aid of a machine or device. Do I have to register with your office to be protected? No. In general, registration is voluntary. Copyright exists from the moment the work is created. You will have to register, however, if you wish to bring a lawsuit for infringement of a U.S. work. See Circular 1, Copyright Basics, section
  5. How do you protect yourself - get permition no other way around it that is if you want to do it right. below is the FAQ from http://www.copyright.gov/help/faq/faq-general.html#mywork in short if you didn't make it and you don't have permition you CANT copy it. the legal side - all the DVDs that everyone has that they bought and payed for cant be cut into vinyl or printed or reproduced in any way shape or form. with the exception of having permition from the owner NOT the seller. we don't do anything that is popular brands ever because of it - now the reality - the owner of the yellow smiley face - who owns that don't know. is anyone going to claim to own it? don't think so it could even be open source - if you know what that is the copy permitions very under those terms - they range from do what ever you want with them to you can use it just don't sell them. we are heavy into open source products from designs to fonts to cutting and designing software to operating systems more reality - can you cut a logo of ford legally NO but can you cut it and put it in a friends basement behind his bar for no charge legally NO - but who is going to say anything - who will know that it is not bought from a seller that is registered with ford to have the correct rights to sell there product no one but if its popular and you can buy a legitimate item with that logo - think twice before doing it. What is copyright? Copyright is a form of protection grounded in the U.S. Constitution and granted by law for original works of authorship fixed in a tangible medium of expression. Copyright covers both published and unpublished works. What does copyright protect? Copyright, a form of intellectual property law, protects original works of authorship including literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works, such as poetry, novels, movies, songs, computer software, and architecture. Copyright does not protect facts, ideas, systems, or methods of operation, although it may protect the way these things are expressed. See Circular 1, Copyright Basics, section "What Works Are Protected." How is a copyright different from a patent or a trademark? Copyright protects original works of authorship, while a patent protects inventions or discoveries. Ideas and discoveries are not protected by the copyright law, although the way in which they are expressed may be. A trademark protects words, phrases, symbols, or designs identifying the source of the goods or services of one party and distinguishing them from those of others. When is my work protected? Your work is under copyright protection the moment it is created and fixed in a tangible form that it is perceptible either directly or with the aid of a machine or device. Do I have to register with your office to be protected? No. In general, registration is voluntary. Copyright exists from the moment the work is created. Help with Arc and transferring to Signcut x2

I'm not at my computer right now after you stroke to path and union select your text - then go to path - then near the bottom is effects - then it should open a window on the right add envelope and there you can edit diffrent node default settings ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- or there is another way i don't think its as affective but it does work Once you've fired up Inkscape, create a new canvas and use the Text tool (F8) to insert a block of text that you want to arch (See Figure 1). Turn on Caps Lock in this step, as lowercase is frowned on where arched texts are concerned. Block of text on the canvas. If needed, take care of any typographic tweaks you wish to perform, such as kerning. In our sample, I stretched the height of the text a bit (see Figure 2). Text stretched vertically (optional). Next, use the Ellipse tool (F5) to draw an ellipse just below the text (see Figure 3). This will serve as a guide when arching the baseline (

  15. sorry for a long wait to reply i have been very buisy ok here is the deal- i use LINUX to cut vinyl in - the prgram is a cutting program that can be used to cut from any software that can make a PDF or PS file - i dont use flexi - wincut - or anything else you have heard of, or used a guy i know built it for his engraver and then tweeked it for vinyl cutters - it doesnt work on low end cutters at this time - MH PCUT anythign that uses the serial to usb converter but to my question right now i have it set up for HPGL - can use adobe or corel in linux using a program called wine - but the addon doesnt work in wine. the program im using right now i cant get it to do any kind of print cut - is there a code at the begining of the string that turns the eye on and starts the scan i would like to be able to get that added to the software program if i can figure out what the HPGL code is for a print cut i dont have a windows computer right now that i can try to pull any of that code out with

    Laptop died

Another thing you can go is go to ubuntu and download the Operating system - and burn it to a cd and from there you can insert the cd into your laptop - you have choices install or run it from the cd - choose run it from the cd and you can then get to your hard drive and transfer your files to another computer on your network- windows system will show up as a folder just open it and move everything - no problems Then from there you can reinstall windows and move everything back
