Just came across this, some old boats that could be made into pirate ships as well as some moden boats. http://all-silhouettes.com/free_vector-sailboats/

Currious as to why you suggest that? Is it something about crystal and sandblasting, or the fact that it's a curved small surface? I've used Armor Etch on some beer mugs. Not bad, my only complaint is I'd the etching to be just a little bit deaper nad occasionally I'll get a small spot that I didn't get cleaned good and the etching cream won't etch it, at least not as well as the surrounding area.

Ok, took a look last night and SB sees my cutter on the USB, no comm port necessary. Lets start from the beginning, what model of cutter do you have?
-
I forget exactly what it says. I'll take a look tonight when I get home.
-
I believe mine is COM8 and SB see's it no problem but I don't recal doing anything special to get it to work. One thing you can try, you can go to the device manager on your computer and manually assign comm port numbers so you can force com6 to be called com4 or what ever you want.

Did she peel the backing off? Silly question I know but some people really are that dumb. -
Bringing a design from Illustrator into Sign Cutter

What I like to do when doing something like this is to find a font as close as possible to the original and then node edit it to get it to match up. I usually end up with a cleaner, better looking result than a straight trace. -
Post the eps file and someone can probably help you.

If you node edit, and delete the 4 corner nodes of the square it will accomplish what you want I believe.

Need help with getting an outline for several items grouped together

The only way I've found so far is the method I mentioned earlier about grouping, duplicating, merging/welding/union, and expanding. -

Could you not also group everything, duplicate it, then weld/merge all the items, send it to bottom layer and expand to the desired size? -

I just found another program that is open source and does the same thing, although you do need to have GhostScript installed. Also found one for .svg files. SageThumbs http://code.google.com/p/sagethumbs/ Dotz Software SVG Explorer Extension https://code.google.com/p/svg-explorer-extension/ You may need to reboot even though the installer doesn't tell you to. -
Here's one that I have. I'd would like to find some other if anyone has anything in a vector format good for cutting. Found tons of vector dragonfly's online but they're more for printing. Dragonfly.svg

Has anyone tried the developement version of Inkscape? It's supose to be able to send stuff to a cutter as well as control over cut and offset, thought I might give it a try this weekend. http://www.timewasters-place.com/your-cutting-plotter-and-inkscape/

You can always make the design in some other software and then import it into your cutting program. Just be sure to convert text to paths before importing so that there is no question it will come out exactly the way you want.

If you don't mind telling, what did you charge for those?

The corners of the rope border doesn't look right. Top left is good, top right is ok, but the bottom two don't flow naturally. -
Just pick a font you like, type the letters out individually, resize and arrange as you like. Once happy you'll need to save the file off in a format SCALP can open, eps probably but I do not have SCALP so I don't know for sure.

Saw a great shirt last week. Simply said "I'm not a nerd, I'm just smarter than you." Granted the girl wearing the shirt would never of been mistaken for a nerd. lol

Was searching the net and found this
darcshadow replied to Ravenwind / One Off Grafx's topic in General discussion
The one looks more like an addoption thing. Little girl and dog but no parents. -
I think your best best is going to be to do it manually. A good bit of work but it can be done. Other option would be to try editing the image in something like photoshop and get a good contrast between the lines and the background, then run it through a trace program like inkscape.
-
The two ways I do it is from Inkscape save as eps and import to signblazer, or in inkscape to a select all and copy then paste into signblazer. If you're dealing with text and fonts you might need to convert the text to paths prior to importing to signblazer. It also helps to look at your inkscape drawing in line mode.
