    SG400 profiles

I am making the switch from my WF1100 with Cobra Ink to a SG400. I have gotten many years out of the WF1100 but its time for a replacement. I love the cost of ink from Cobra but I am tired of the clogged print heads and spending so much time cleaning them if I don't print for a week or 2. Hopefully the SG400 will live up to all the hype. My question is are there color profiles available for it like Cobra had for their sublimation inks? If so where do I find them? Thanks

    SG400 profiles

Thanks, so the power drivers contain my profiles? I wasn't sure how that worked. My printer should be here Thursday and I need to get it going ASAP since I have an order for mugs waiting. i was hoping to have all software downloaded and ready to go but it looks like I need to wait to install the printer first.
  7. that .12 per sq in is a great deal. If you have enough to offset the setup fees this is the way to go. It really does work as well as the videos show!
  8. It is very similar to capillary film and emulsion (my preference) I can get some great detail with it. I invested in the exposure unit but you could build your own very easily. The biggest thing is to have a printer that can print dark enough (I have an all black inkjet and use a RIP software)

  10. Look into Rayzist or Ikonics for photo resist. It makes easy work of small detailed designs. You can get a GREAT result with them and if you don't want to buy the stuff to make them yourself you can outsource it to Rayzist and they will make the stencils for you.

    11 ounce mugs

I never sell 11oz mugs anymore. I did for a while but EVERYONE wanted the 15oz. I sell them for $14 each, no discounts for bulk but I do have several people that I wholesale them to for $8 each if they supply the print ready artwork.

How do I prepare for this?

Its hard to give you some pricing without knowing what print location(s), how many colors, placements, etc

    Little Problem!

I am guessing the color profile is not correct or you don't have it on photo quality.........but thats just a guess

    new press

I use the Riley Hopkins 6 color 4 station, its a great press and very well made. I doubt you would need the old press for a backup with a RH.

    Need some advice.

I wouldn't touch vinyl for 312 shirts when you have access to screen printing. Cost and time alone will be HUGE savings. What kind of ink are you using? Have you called the ink manufacturer or your supplier to seek advice there? What are you using to cure the ink? My inks require the temp to hit 325* to cure and I have no issues at all. If you are using a heat gun, heat press or even just a flash unit you MUST be sure to reach full curing temps.

Need a quote for getting shirts done

Sue summed it up pretty well. I would bet 99% of all T'shirts people who don't own a vinyl cutter have are screen printed. I started out with shirts doing HTV and use Siser Easyweed (a really good brand of HTV in my opinion) I got in to screen printing as well because of the cost and time. Its much more efficient when doing more than 12 or with some detailed layouts. HTV is expensive and as Sue said its time/labor consuming and some jobs it just will not work (your posted design would work fine) With good quality HTV or good quality ink (screen printing) both will last and he will be happy with either. A lot of people (me included) don't like the hand (feel) of HTV. $12 would be a reasonable retail price (your price to him) If you sub them out you have room to make $5-6 per shirt and after you factor in shipping of about $1 per shirt you could make $4-5 each. Not a bad profit for just a few emails. One pitfall I see is sizing from 3T to 3XL for screen print would really require 2 different screens. If you size the image to fit a 3T its going to be small on the 3X. If you size it to fit the 3X it wont fit on the 3T. This might be where HTV AND screen print come together. Do the few youth shirts in HTV and screen print the rest.

Jay, If you ever want to play around with it I can print the film in tone for you. Shouldn't cost much to ship it. It adds an entire new level to printing. You can get a lot of detail with halftones.

For HTV I would be a lot higher. I am quoting screen printing. Which I am attaching here. I PROMISE I am not working for free here, just not getting greedy. I do a lot of screen printing and can usually get blank shirts for $2-3 for S-XL that leaves me making $3-4 per shirt on a single color single print shirt. I will do that all day long. Here is my pricing sheet that I work off daily.
