    LPII Settings

The first time it "messed up" the vinyl got bunched up but that was because I didn't put the pinch roller all the way on the end roller position. After correcting that stupid beginner mistake the cuts still got messed but the vinyl fed fine. I was cutting the word 'Styling' and the 'i' got closer to the 'n' and the 'S' swirl cut over itself and also over the 't'. It just seems like the pinch roller isn't holding the vinyl in place so it isn't cutting properly.

    LPII Settings

I am having problems cutting anything that is as wide as the roll 24". Every time it gets to the last about 6" the cuts mess up and all I was cutting was lettering. It cuts fine when I cut anything under 12". Does anyone know what the issue could be?

What does changing the offset do exactly? Also what would be the difference of using a 45 or 60 degree blade?
  4. I am wondering what are the best settings to be running the machine at. I haven't touched the offset or even know what the offset does. I have been running around 165-200g for pressure and I see alot of people running more towards 100g. Does that mean I need to put out more blade and lower my pressure? My current settings: Blade: 45 degree Pressure: 165-200g Speed: 400 Offset: default (i think its .34) Vinyl: Greenstar Some feedback would be great and also lets see what everyone else runs for settings. FYI I have had the machine for about a week so if there are anything else I am missing let me know. -Austin
  5. I would recommend going to community college route. It would not make sense to go to a University for the 'college experience'. Once you go to one college they are all the same shoulder to shoulder sloppy drunk people doing stupid sh*t and girls you don't want to date. It was fun at 18 but gets stupid really fast. You seem to be very similar to me. I am 21 years young and have always been very business minded. I went to the community college and got my associates while working ~30 hours living at home and saved money without having debt when I graduated. After graduating I got a corporate desk job with the degree. I know I am always getting a pay check and have after work and all weekend to be doing what ever with the cutter. I think it said you had to decide by May 1? Lets hear what you decided on -Austin

Laspoint II or SC Series Cutter?

I see some Laserpoint II's need a keyspan and some do not. Why is that? Also where would be the best place to get one and price? jaybird- why do you wish you had to 24 instead of the 31?
  8. Hello, I'm new to cutting vinyl and looking to purchase a cutter this week. I have a budget of around $500 and it looks like the Laserpoint II or the SC Series are the ones. I have heard both good and bad about both cutters. I hear that getting a Keyspan for the SC helps fix most if not all the problems people seem to have along with it also being grounded to eliminate static. I'm told the Laserpoint II is a better cutter but still find that it has its problems too. Any information or experience with these cutters is welcome! -Austin (I typed up this post and it deleted when I pushed 'Post New Topic' so its now short and sweet)

    Nodes

Thanks for all the responses! So what will be the difference if there are a lot of nodes on an image? I don't think I have read a response saying the negatives to having more nodes (unless I skimmed over it). Will it cut slower?

    Nodes

What are some tips for node amount and placement? When tracing, it puts a lot on places that are more detailed and jagged and its hard to keep the shape when deleting some nodes. Is that ok to have more there or how does it mess up the cutting?

    Nodes

I know I read this something on nodes before but now I can't find the post. Does it matter on the amount of nodes a vector image has for cutting vinyl? Wondering if I need to clean up the nodes on an image after I trace it in inkscape. Ausitn
