    Tired of Folding your T-Shirts?

Great mike! But seriously, I would love to have a pattern or at least a drawing of the Sheldon Cooper folder, "as seen on TV." I remember seeing those for sale many years ago, but since seeing Sheldon use his, I have often thought I would love to have one now. Would it be possible for you to email me a picture of yours so I can make one? I Don't really remember how they were made, and Sheldon is no help - he moves too fast. cycle.recycler@yahoo.com

SB often locks up when I hit "cut"

I have been using Sign Blazer for about 10 years now. Started with a MH 721 cause it was all I could afford. Went thru 3 of those and now have a Vinyl Express R series. Still cheap and Chinese, but seems to be a big step up from the MH. Problem is this: When I send a completed graphic to the cutter, it quite often locks up the program. Can't shut down or escape. Have to control-alt-delete to shut down and reboot computer. Gets annoying. I have tried reinstalling SB from the CD, but it still does the same thing. Any ideas?
  3. I have a mh721. I think it's a mk2. has usb & serial ports, no parallel port. This is my 2nd mh721. Wore out the first one & swore It would be the last, but was broke when it died, so.... I ran my first one from an old tower with XP I think. couldn't get it to work with usb, so used serial port. Got the second one - wouldn't work with serial port. Hooked it up to hp laptop with win7, finally found & downloaded usb drivers (no idea now where I got them). Worked fine till computer crashed from other problems. Had to have the hard drive cleaned. Just re-installed Sign Blazer, and of course the drivers are gone. My preference would be to use my other laptop which has win8, but have not been able to find drivers that will work. Still won't work with old tower and serial port either. Thought I would try to find usb drivers first and try to get it to work with one of the laptops, Any ideas as to where I might find usb drivers? Or any ideas as to why the new mh721 won't work with the tower and serial cable? I'm pretty sure I must be missing something. Any ideas to get it working with ANY of these computers? I've got a sign job that I really don't want to cut by hand.
  4. thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I'll try that.
  5. Hi! I have an MH721 (mk2 I think) - my second one. I just got a new laptop with Windows 8 (all I could get). I also have another with Win 7 that stays in my wife's office. A year or so ago I downloaded USB drivers onto the 7 so I could cut with a USB connection. I need to do the same with the 8, but cannot find the site from which I downloaded the drivers. Can you help me? by necessity the 8 has to be my main cutter computer, and I can't afford to buy a"spare" older one to run it. I REALLY need to get this up and running. thanks
  6. ok, i know just enough to know that i don't know. I am buying a new vinyl cutter. I do signs, thermal press t-shirts, etc. I just bought a cobra ink equipped epson printer to do heat transfer t-shirts with more artistic flexibility. here's my question. I've come to the conclusion that in order to press ink jet printed transfers onto dark shirts, i have to trim the background paper close around the design. this gets to be too time intensive with scissors. will a countour cutting plotter be of any help in this situation? if so, how does that work? if not, what are they really for then? next (?) : I'm looking at an sc series which offers a lazer option. Is that contour cut, or what is the lazer for? thanks a bunch, i don't want to buy something and find out it won't do what I bought it for.
  7. I'm ready to replace my mh721. still haven't chosen its successor. I just bought a cobra ink-equipped epson printer to do thermal transfers on t-shirts, etc. Was plan ning to buy another mh, but it sort of looks like they may be going away. so upon looking around I noticed the uscutter sc series. seems like a bit of an upgrade for not much price increase. but what about the laser cut option? I do a lot of banners, full size signs, stencils for sign and custom car painting, etc. as well as my new foray into the t-shirt transfers. I don't really understand what contour cutting does, so my question is: given what I use my cutter for, would the laser option be of any benefit to me? thanks

    one more time?

thanks, I thought the keyspan adapter should work, but I wasn't sure, and I can't afford to gamble on it right now. I think I'm gonna do it "one more time." Does anyone know if the extra memory is still available? thanks again. preacher

    one more time?

several years ago I bought an mh721 cause it was all I could afford. I ran a part time sign business for about 4 years. My business became full time out of necessity for about 12 months of that time. I'd like to say my 721 performed flawlessly the whole time, but that would be a gross exageration. It did, however, with a lot of tweeking and babying, support me and my wife through some otherwise very lean times. Yes, it was my only cutter, and yes, I am very satisfied with its performance for the price. Now it's in a coma, and I'm contemplating whether or not to pull the plug. I am again in very tight financial straights, and the low price of the mh is tempting me to replace it with the same thing again. but before I do, I'd like to address a couple of ongoing problems I've had. Are these common problems with the mh series or was it just a fluke, and are there remedies? 1) I never did get it to operate on the usb connection to my computer. I was using a desk top at the time and finally installed a serial port in the pc to accomodate it. (Yes, I did contact uscutter support, and they said it just wasn't really made to work with usb, even though it was sold that way. the serial port was their suggestion) I'm using a lap top now so that's out of the question. this is the big question for me. Has the usb interface problem been remedied in currently available mh721's? or is there an apapter or something that wiill actually work?. 2) on large (especially on long cuts) cuts, it would sometimes just act like a tilted pinball machine and the carriage would run off the vinyl on the left. I'd have to turn it off, reboot it, throw away the ruined vinyl and start over. This happened often when trying to cut a long pattern like auto pinstripes. I always assumed this was due to a shortage of memory. Does that sound reasonable, and if so is the extended memory chip still available? I don't see it on any of the parts lists anymore. I guess those are my 2 biggest concerns, with the usb compatability being the most important. has anyone else had these prob lems? if so is there an easy fix? I really can't afford a better cutter right now, and I have to do something. I have been very satisfied with the performance of the 721, but if it's not going to work on usb, then I can't use it. all input would be very much appreciated.

    pcut or contour cutter?

I bought an mh721 a few years ago, and have been using it steadily in my part time/full time sign shop. It's frustrating at times, but it did the job for the price I could afford. Recently, my wife's dog ate the ribbon cable along with some other wiring. I got the other wiring patched up but could not revive the ribbon cable. Tried to order a new ribbon today and discovered mh721's are discontinued and part not available. so I guess it's time to buy a new cutter. I'm waffling between the pcut and the countour cutter (24"). only about $50 difference apparently. I understand that the countour cutter will cut aroung printed images- something I really don't need right now, but may some day. But what other differences are there? Is one quieter than the other? faster? more durable? more frustrating? Is one more likely to be discontinued soon? Do they come with the same software or is there a difference? Does one work better with usb connection? You get the idea, any other differences that might make a difference in my selection? Yes, I know you can't say which is best, cause it depends on my situation. But how about all the info I can get for comparison? I'm leaning toward the contour cutter because the description SOUNDS LIKE it may be higher quality. Any thoughts? thanks in advance for your input.
  11. could you explain what the difference is for a newbie?
  12. I found a guy on ebay who is selling Royal (?) something... sublimation ink transfer paper for cheap. I just started doing ink jet heat transfers and have been using some Avery stuff. Is this the same type of paper or is sublimation something completely different? I'm still using my hp inkjet printer with standard dye based inks. will that work on this sublimation paper the same as it does on the Avery?

    sbe node edit glitch

Hi! I've been using sbe for all mydesign work since buying my mh721. Justdownloaded inkscape but haven't had time to learn it yet. All has been well till now-for the mostpart anyway. yesterday, my lovely bride was designing a decal, tracing a bitmap with polyline and then tweaking it with node edit to getit right. suddenly in node edit only the nodes show - no lines! Ever try to clean up an image when you can't see the lines? Anyway, i'm wondering if anyone out their has had this problem before, whatcaused it, and how to correct it? Did she reset something unintentionally? or is it just a glitch? can it be changed back or should i just reinstall the sbe program over the existing? If i reinstall will it effect any of thestuff we have saved in our sbe project files? Please help! we have paying customers waiting for us to figure this out! thanks in advance for all your advice preacher
