Election Day Rant- You Knew it was Coming

Okay folks, It is election Day so lets get the Post Politics rant out of the way, and see if anyone else feels the same. First, I think they have spent way too much time covering this, In my eyes it is like the OJ trial all over again, it is everywhere on the Tv, wether you like it or not. Honestly its your vote and whoever wins, will actually be the looser, they get to clean up a Global mess to say the least. Food, Gas, The Economy, THE GNP, Banking failure and Bailout, The Credit Crisis, The Mortgage bailout, DAMN there ain't much left to go wrong at this point. The Dow Jones goes up and down like a 90 year old fat man's heart rate, and people wonder why Day traders jump from the 50th floor of their office building, cause they lost every damn thing they own in the stock market. It is A Lose / Lose situation at this point as far as this simple redneck can see, but I think that one common Item may help..so here is my 2 cents worth you ready...HONESTY... whoa there is a new word for politicians. I would love for a president or governor to actually get on tv, just once and say " Hell yes I inhaled" or  " well if screwing my intern on the desk in the Oval Office is a crime.. Lock Me up, lol" the truth is gone from day to day living with these people that we vote into office to make descisions for us. So what is next ?, folks I wish I Knew; as do most of you I'm sure. So I look at life like this: #1 Every morning I wake up and I ain't breathing dirt or looking at the silk lining of a casket; IS A GOOD THING. #2 My kids keep me going, but yet I wonder what the world holds for them when I am dead and feeding the earthworms. Last but not least #3 what can politics do for the small business owners (such as most of us) who are trying to build that American dream, work at home, hold a family together and be able to afford a summer vacation at the grand Canyon. As with most of you, I will watch this day unfold and pray for the best.. but for the time being, I think I will head out to the Bank, Take out a loan so I can go put gas in the car and buy some eggs and Milk...God Bless the USA, Cause lord knows... no one else is gonna bless us at this point.

nice rant. Actually,Obama has admitted to using drugs as a youth,as did Clinton.

But anyway, there is only one question to really ask yourself...do you want things to change or stay the same?

Personally, I think Gene Simmons for President would be good. Any man who has the strength to have sex with over 3000 women, be smart enough not to get sued even once, and manage to stay with Shannon Tweed for all these years,would get my vote.

I have thought some of the same thoughts . I think it would be a positive step to eliminate parties . In 4 years , unless the victors have it all peachy & perfect , the loosing party will blame it on the victors . No way to tell how it would have been if the other party had won . so hindsight is not 20-20 . The 9-11 attacks , the hurricane disasters were/are VERY expensive as did the war both parties voted for . I don't know how the economy right now could be doing good with all that burden especially with the loan situation . I think we need a business person with military experience to help us out . I did not buy way over my head & hope the politicians don't have me paying for buying loans & reselling them at reduced prices .

in 1941, when this country went to war, business was service oriented. Keeping the customers happy..giving value for the price. WE won the war because we had our own defense plants,our own resources. The enemy could not blockade our ports and starve us out.

Today, businesses are profit-oriented...greed driven. We depend on foreign countries for much of what we use...we import our steel,our oil,even a great deal of our food. If China wanted to,they could bring us to our knees simply by refusing to export to us what we use every day....electronics,food ingredients,etc.

Most major US corporations are either totally owned by foreign investors,or controlled by them via stocks that they own. The US is in MAJOR debt to foreign banks and foreign governments.

And there lies the problem. WE have,for too long, quietly let our country slip from our fingers,grown dependant on cheap foreign goods,and demanded low prices for goods no matter what the quality. Our wages have in NO way kept pace with the cost of goods and services we need. In most areas of the country, people can't afford the very basics.An aparttment that rented for $200 20 years ago is now $800,yet the wages most of us make have gone up maybe 20% in the same time.

Are we in a depression? Not yet,but in 1929 people lived on a cash basis. Now everyone lives on a credit basis. What will happen when the credit cards are maxed out and people can't pay the payments? The economy is teetering on the edge of collapse. Can it happen?

The economy brought down the Soviet Union,once as great and mighty as we are. The economy brought down the Roman Empire...once the greatest on earth. Starvation and lack of jobs brought down the French Monarchy in the late 18th century. People are not starving now,but if they are....what will happen? An empty belly is a strong driving force.

But,Walmart will survive.

Hi  , I have been self employed since 1976 . I am biased towards small business , but i don't think that should be a priority of our government . I think " the needs of the many are greater than the needs of the few "  ( Who knows that quote's source  ) . The majority of the working class people should be the priority . The working class ( blue collar ) are the "mules " of society . They pay for everything . The rich & poor don't pay or pay much ratio wise . Ex; If Joe the plumber bought a co & made more than 1/4 of a million dollars , He doesn't need tax breaks ... his employees do IMHO . I admit I'm "wet" behind the ears as far as politics , but i think the only tax should be sales tax & that should be made VERY critically enforced . If you want to & can afford a new corvette , pay the tax & don't say it's a co expense . If i want to & can afford a used Chevette , I'll pay the tax on it . fairest way to tax . If you keep your money & don't spend it , no tax until you do . I remember Col Parker saying he would keep Elvis in the 90% tax bracket all his life... only problem what was getting taxed was a small percentage & ratio-wise small compared to an average means person . I think the income tax percentage is 1/4 of an "average" income , plus sales tax when the rest is spent .

I like the single tax Idea, but as with everything, this too shall pass, A similar situation happend in Michigan with the taxes and bond issues used for Schools. They state said okay we will put the lottery profits into the school system, thrus releasing and downsizing the taxible base needed on residential property taxes. So what happend, for a few years the property taxes went down, by a fair amount, but then, every so quietly, they went up, and up, and they are getting back to where they were initially. But as stated the cost of everything has jumped much higher than what a "cost of living" increase each year can provide. I really beleive on of the biggest downfalls to our economy occured when we were taken off of the gold standard. Now the government can print money till they puke, but it ain't worth the paper its printed on. As I type this I See that Obama, easily won the presidential election based on the platform of "Change", last time i checked  every elected president to date, also ran on the "Change" platform or some form thereof. Historic election, sure, I agree, but the election won't mean a damn thing if the history books read " The Great Depression and the modern economic Collapse of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA in 2009" The president elect ( black,white,jew,gentile,whatever) Not only now has racial barriers to overcome, but a global mess to say the least. One of the few things I take solice in is knowing that American's are a fighting breed, we want what we beleive is ours , or can be ours through hard work and faith in God and Family. With that fighting spirit comes The dream of being a business owner and making a go of it. So those new business beginnings need signs and graphics and custom art, photos, etc. I guess that is where we come in on the foodchain, lol  so I guess we need to get to work, the more Vinyl signs we make, the more businesses are out there trying to rebuild our economy...Please Lord grant me peace, cause we got a lotta work to do...
