dnewcomb 0 Posted September 25, 2008 Hmmm that's a decent profit margin. Where I live, those signs would easily go for about $300 a peice. I might have to look into a metal cutter

Muttley 0 Posted September 25, 2008 Hey Cody, nice work! Got a quick question for you. Have you ever had an issue with vinyl remaining adhered to a metal sign? I have a job coming up for a 2-sided sign with different color vinyl on each side. The metal has a baked enamel coating. I had not thought of this much, but someone told me that the vinyl does not like to stay on metal. Was curious what your experience with this was. (Didn't mean to highjack the thread)
Benr98 40 Posted September 25, 2008 Muttley great question. I too have to do 2 signs that are baked on white baked enamel...so I'll be looking forward to the answer. Jen
SynFX 1 Posted September 26, 2008 I have never had a problem with applying vinyl to the substrate. I usually get mill aluminum.. which has no enamel surfaces, saves money! It will still work just as well with the enamel. Don't you guys worry about a thing. Just be sure to thoroughly clean the surface of the metal first. Usually the problem with metal signs is that you get oils on the signs and will not come off too easily because of the porous texture of the signs, which could lead to bubbling. Hope that helps! kburk 2 Posted September 27, 2008 Nice job Cody Do you shear the Aluminum yourself? You need to get a contract with a truck load of thoughs with that kind of spread!! Well done Keith
SynFX 1 Posted September 27, 2008 I have my blanks cut at a local metal fab shop.. cut the corners myself.. lol I try to do as little as possible, for as much as possible.
kburk 2 Posted September 27, 2008 Good plan! Nice job on the signs. I ask about the aluminum because I also do metal fab work. I have been welding since I was about 10-12. I have a full metal shop with brake shear and lathe welders..... you get the point. Stick with the little for a lot!! Keith
