2 quick questions

Recommended Posts

1. The type of vinyl i'm using for regular decals for cars, trucks, and maybe even motorcycles is Calendared FDC 4725 6 Year.

Is this ok for this use or should I look into using cast vinyl instead?

2. I grabbed some Reflective Engineer Grade Nikkalite Black Flexible EG 7 year for making some stealth motorcycle decals, but to me I doesn't seem to reflect all that much. Does anyone have any other suggestions for this idea?

Thanks for your time guys!  :P

I've heard of others using the FDC and it produces good results and quality.. I started out with Avery vinyl but switched over to Oracal and I love it.

Depends on what you mean by decal.

By decal do you mean a little sticker that says something or a logo that most likely will be taken off in a few years?

Or by decal do you mean a graphic design that will remain on the vehicle until the vehicle is totaled and taken to the junkyard?

If it's the second one, use cast.

thats a pretty good rule of thumb, I'll remember that.  so I guest what i'm using is good for what i'm doing.

i agree with you about the Nikkalite. i used it a while back but i never really liked it. i didnt have a problem with the reflectiveness but i dont like how brittle it is. and it gets ugly spots in it if you stretch it even a little bit. i use the 3m reflective now. it is more expensive but a much nicer vinly. give it a try, im sure youll like it.
