What do you all think about this VP choice?

As an Alaskan, I will post my opinion after the poll so I don't influence anyone.  :)

I don't know much about her. She seems like a smart lady. Being from Alaska what is your take on her? She sounds popular there. Part of me wants to say it is McCains way to pull over the female vote that feels slighted because Hillary didn't get the Democratic nomination. They are opposite ends of the spectrum though. George Stephanopoulus had a good comment this morning. He said the candidates are opposites. McCain who has experience selected a relative unknown who represents change. While Obama who has little experience and represents change selected Biden who has the experience.

I love the pic !! I wish the media would start asking Obama the real questions instead of following him around like he is the chosen one! McCain needs to start picking his game up and finishing this thing. Obama had 2x the funds that McCain has and still cant shake McCain, now that is sad. Im a democrat voteing Republican this year. Hope = Nope

McCain is our guy

Well you know, Obama is promising change ... but I want to know if anyone is bothering to ask what kind of change. I'm thinking it's all talk, no walk, and there's a good chance that it would be a change for the worst.

I don't decide how I vote based on party affiliation, I base is solely on the issues that I hold important to me and where the candidate stand on those issues. And so far ... I'm not happy with either one, but I think come November it'll be more a vote of "the lesser of two evils," rather than "this is the right guy to run the country."

I know, I know - flame me all you want. I spoke my peace. Hope I didn't offend anyone in the process.

And for the record - I personally don't consider Obama from Hawaii or even a "local boy." He certainly does not get my vote by default (or "local" stupidity).

And there you have it (hmph) ignore.gif

well obviously, some have not been listening to obama, if so then u would know some of the changes he plans to put into action. then he has to clean up a big mess. yes obama is a hope for a lot of people, clinton did, so can obama. they r a lot people hurting out here.

I also agree  about the Obama with ziltch for experience and thugs/criminals for friends.  And :o for the young lady from Alaska who shows highest integrity & honesty of all that are running.   She seems to be a straight talker (and shooter) which Washington sees very little of.   It is a bit funny to see the hypocrite media trip, stumble, & choke over themselves.   Can ya tell that I rate media just below lawyers!

I'm with Nona on this and I wasn't even going to vote Obama for the longest time, but after carfully reviewing all those that are running including their VP choices...I've made my decisions.

I can remember Presidents bake to Eisenhower. I voted for the first time in 1972. Here is my take:

It took Clinton 6 years to clean up the mess that Reagan and Bush #1 left...It took Bush #2 1 year to go from Budget Surplus to budget deficit. Now we have the biggest budget deficit in history,as well as the loargest national debt in history. The dollar is worth 60% of what it was a few years ago. The worlds laughs at the US...and the president. During the last 8 years there has been virtually ZERO progress in the matter of health care. Republicans fought against a raise in the minimum wage for years. Much bragged on tax cuts helped the upper class and wealthy...did nothing for the poor and working people.

Social Security is facing bankruptcy...the problem of what to do and how to care for the rapidly aging population has been ignored...jobs are flying out of the US faster than ever...we have to borrow money from CHINA to pay or debts...WE are spending 100 Billion dollars a year on a war we can't win...while people in our own country go hungry and 40+ million people have no insurance or access to health care...

McCain has been a staunch supporter of current policy since day 1...he picks a woman for the VP  who has virtually no experience in foreign policy and governs a state with less people than the City of Memphis Tn...As far as I can determine, just to court the female vote and take some of the youth vote away from Obama. I do think McCain has a better grasp on reality than the idiot Bush does. Which wouldn't be hard.

Obama promises us the moon while offering no real solutions or explanations on HOW he will do what he says needs doing. On the up side...at least he realizes that there is a PROBLEM. Like an alcoholic...the first step is admitting you have a problem.

If I vote, it won't be FOR Obama as much as against McCain and more of the same.

Personally, I don't have much hope either way. The idiot Bush has dig too deep a hole for us to crawl out of easily.

Anyway, it doesn't matter much to me...unless some sort of national health care or insurance comes our way soon, I won't have to worry about the future.

But,as they say...when you've hit rock bottom, there's nowhere to go but up.

Banner,

The #1 job of president of these United States is to defend this nation.  Bush has done his job even though it took "buying" liberals (dem & rep) in house and senate with outlandish spending to accomplish that.  Sept11 was like Pearl Harbor and Bush had to rebuild a clinton demoralized and abandoned military.

my 3 cents

Im a democrat voteing Republican this year.

Being from Texas... ya KNOW I'm a republican, but I think I'm voting for Barack. Maybe I'm doing it for selfish reasons... he backs the IAFF firefighters union, and talks about bringing good things for us. This is important for my career and my future(retirement).

I don't think there hasn't been "enough" changes in the last 8 years for people to continue to vote republican.

My fiancee is still voting for McCain, so you can ONLY imagine what kind of heated battles go on around here... but making up is always fun :o :o

I agree !!!    I'm not knowledgable about politics , but Clinton said he would have a national health care in place within a matter of months 16 years ago , He never did that in his 8 years in office , woried more about the out-of-the -closet gay people in the military . The war was expensive , BUT I never look over my shoulder when i hear a noise wondering if our sworn enemies are sneaking up to cut my or my loved ones head off . It stayed on foriegn shores & weakened enemies that would have gotten strong enough to do more damage than the twin towers IMHO .

The Democrats , congress .. everybody voted for the war right after the towers , not it gets dumped on the president only . I can only imagine how Al Gore wold have handled that situation . ( probably demanded a written apolagy ?? )

Bush has spread our military thin all over the world while our ports remain open to any terrorist with a boat(BIn Laden himself owns a fleet of tankers).

How is occupying a foreign country defending our nation? Everyone says (including Bush's own advisors) that the terrrist are in Afghanistan, not Iraq.

and while you are comparing Pearl Harbor....how about this?

Pearl Harbor was an unprovoked attach by another nation against us...

How is this different from US attacking Iraq...without provocation?

The United States is not the world's police force and is also NOT the decision maker on who or who shouldn't be in power anywhere. If we wanted to attack a country that supports terrorists,we should attack Saudi Arabia...it has been proven that memebers of the saudi royal family provided money for 9/11. The Saudi Regime is a worse dictator that Saddam ever was. But we get OIL from them.

Don't fool yourself...the Iraq war is and always has been a personal vendetta for Bush...finishing what Daddy couldn't. IT has nothing to do with defending our country.

and for those of you who use the word 'liberal' lie it's a dirty word...here is the dictionary definition of a liberal:

broad: showing or characterized by broad-mindedness; "a broad political stance"; "generous and broad sympathies"; "; "tolerant ...

having political or social views favoring reform and progress

tolerant of change; not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or tradition

I am proud to be described like that.

and FYI...if it wasn't for the 'liberals'...we would have no social security,no medicare..no minimum wage or child labor laws....minorities would have no rights...and 'colored only' signs would still be everywhere. And those of you who are not having to support your elderly parents BECAUSE they have SS and medicare...thank the liberals.

well, I AM knowledgeable about politics...and here are your facts:

during the Clinton Administration, the democrats fought for national health care...but the congress had a republican majority, who blocked every attempt.

Yes,democrats as well as the republicans voted for the war...caught up in 'patriotic fevor' and basing their votes on LIES about 'weapons of mass destruction' which were based on faulty inteligence or just wishful thinking.

The terrorists that you fear are not in Iraq...they are next door...and down the street. The next attack will not come from without...it will come from within.

Bottom line...the president's FIRST duty is the welfare of the American people...and that includes making sure we have food to eat and can afford to buy it. The President has let his own country down while seeing to the business of other countries.

So you think keeping people a slave to welfare so they keep voting democrat to get their meger lot (one of my 3 sons fall into that catagory).  Why do people that want work (at all skill levels) continue to come to this country.  Because we are free to succeed or free to be lazy.  This crosses all racial and nationality lines.

Welfare in OUR constitution is safety and freedom from opression.   The jobs that you see going overseas are because of modern transportation that has thrown us into competing in a world-wide economy.

I do agree that terrorist are here and I believe it is because of the abandonment of immigration controls beginning with carter and up through the present.

Those lies you talk about were from the slashed clinton intelligence and every free nation's intelligence services.

For those that want to be socialists, there are a lot of countries to go to.  Don't reduce our proud nation to socialism.

Back to SBE & my PCUT...

[glow=red,2,300]I wouldn't give you ten cents for either candidate.[/glow]

The USA citizen has no more choice in a democratic selection than a Chinaman in China does.

I saw this revealed when on the Presidential TV debate, the more qualified candidates were virtually snubbed. Both parties!!

The lions share of coverage went to the TV medias and the rich and powerful picks.

The USA citizen has lost control of this country and we are given the choice of voting for someone that someone else has picked for us.

The system as it stands today is a mockery of democracy.

Years ago Hillary was given a tremendous amount of publicity by the news media in the beginnings of grooming her for higher things. I think the whole Clinton family are puke. Proven by pardoning numerous felons when "Slick Willy" left office.

All they had to do was donate heavily to his library fund.

Bush family? Did you know he had two other brothers besides Jeb?

Check out "Bush's brothers on internet and get a load of how corrupt this grinning family really is.

hey slop...google 'presidential pardons' and see how many Reagan and Bush #1 pardoned. It's a 'tradition' to do that when you are leaving office. At least they waited..unlike Bush #2. He didn't even wait for Scooter to get IN jail before he kept him OUT.

You are right about the first bit though....this country is a democracy in name only. Our current President was not elected to office in 2000 by the people.

Hey Regis...

what do you call a nation that treats every citizen like a criminal by default? That takes away the rights of it's citizens bit by bit until they have few left? That taxes it's citizens to death at every turn then abandons them when they need help? That has a President who thinks (and acts) as if he is above the law? Who pushes the constitution to the side when it doesn't agree with his objectives?

Anyone who thinks that this nation isn't a shadow of what it used to be (and can be again) is living in a dream world.

Nobody is keeping anyone a slave to welfare. Anyone who is on welfare who is able to work is there because they are lazy and want something for nothing.

That's why illegals come here to work..because there are too many lazy Americans who won't work,or won't work in jobs that they consider 'beneath them'. JObs are all over the place. Around here, they are begging for people to work in the service, food, and construction indistries.

I will agree that we can disagree. Honestly, I couldn't care less. Everyone in Washington is either crooked or stupid. I'll pin my hopes on the next life. This one sucks.
