set up problems

I have just got my PCut up and running, but I am having trouble getting my pc to communicate with the cutter. I have downloded the driver (its on the desk top). the color chrome sites instructions say that in the device manager there should be a Com to usb adapter after the com 3 port (in the device manager), I don't have this. When I try to use the serial port I get a message that it cannot open the output device and cannot initilize cutter. when I select LPT1 in SignBlazer (while using serial cable) it will just stop while trying to communtcate. I am running XP. Any help is appreciated.

If you are using the Serial cable, select COM1. Turn off the cutter and turn it back on, make sure you have the Creation PCut CTE630 HPGL selected as the cutter, and COM1 as the Output device, and try again.
